After four volumes, Superman continues to be my favorite of all the SHOWCASE PRESENTS collections! These stories, chronologically reprinted from 1962-1964, are right in the middle of what has become my favorite era of Superman comics! The well known tale, "The Amazing Story of Superman-Red and Superman-Blue" is included along with story after story featuring all the classic Superman Family of supporting characters and villains: Lex Luthor, The Phantom Zone Villains, Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Jimmy Olsen, etc. Batman makes guest appearances and the whole collection ends on a very poignant moment...the very last panel of page 508...I'll let you read it for yourself to find out the details!

This compilation is excellent. This is what souperhero comics are all about. These are before the "modernization" of classic characters. Before the marketing guys figured how they could capitalize on the wholesomeness of these beloved characters. Before the big and small screen adaptations basically changed what we came to love all those years ago.
