Fairly well made, provides a steady stream of water (does not pulse). While you can adjust the stream, it is a little difficult to tell exactly how hard to adjust it each time to get maximum effectiveness while not having too hard a stream. Nevertheless, I am using it everyday and believe it to be beneficial. I like having it in the shower rather than in the sink or sitting on the counter next to the sink.
ONE YEAR UPDATE: I am still using it and along with a Sonic Care toothbrush have had a definite improvement in my gums verified by my dentist. The difficulty in adjusting it continues to be a problem, but only a minor problem.
THREE YEAR UPDATE: After 3 years, product still works fine and the gum improvement continues. I don't think about the adjustment problem anymore and with three solid years of use and good results, I increase the rating from 4 to 5 stars.
FOUR YEAR UPDATE: Still working well and (along with the Sonic Care toothbrush) I continue to have good results with dental checkups. Also the showerbreeze is holding up well.
FIVE YEAR UPDATE: Still working fine, with good results. I think the key to dental health is to on a daily basis: use a waterpik type device such as this one, use an ADA electric toothbrush (such as Sonic Care), and floss (if you have trouble flossing, try various types of floss and flossing devices until you find one you like). Again do these three things at least once every day.
FIVE & 1/2 YEAR UPDATE: The lever on the valve broke off making the product unusable. I contacted Oral Breeze, located in Queensbury, NY, and they offer to replace the product for a nominal $5 fee. Excellent customer serice!

I usually brush my teeth in the shower, so this is a perfect complement. Makes my teeth and mouth feel clean, and the benefits to the gums will be of long-term benefit. Looking forward to my next dentist visit; curious to see how much less plaque I'm going to have and the healthier gums.

Most of all though, using this in the shower makes it really easy to WANT to clean your teeth. I'm not a teeth-cleaning nut, but this thing makes me want to use it -- I can't take a shower w/o using it.

An extra little benefit is that the unit can come in handy as a pressure washer. Good for cleaning the shower and especially in grout areas. I'd recommend getting the 6' unit if you want this capability; also, if your shower is next to the sink, the longer hose can allow you to use the unit there.

I've never used a standard countertop oral irrigator, so I can't compare, but the ShowerBreeze gives you great freedom to move the nozzle around without worrying about the water flying everywhere. The pressure can be quite strong--I think I have at times irrigated too aggressively with this thing without realizing because it feels good. My only other complaint is that the whole hose thing is unsightly in the shower.

UPDATE: I loved this product at first (originally 5 stars), but the lever that switches the water flow from the shower head to the irrigator hose wore out after about 18 months of daily use because it is made of material that seems too weak for this purpose. Major design flaw. I have since switched to a competing product that integrates the switch into the handpiece. It is cheaper, easier to use and seems like it will last indefinitely.

Trying to maintain dental prophylaxis preventing disease by keeping the teeth and mouth free of food particles and plaque becomes more difficult the older we get. Bruushing and flossing doesn't quite get all of the particles so water jets seem to be a better method.

The sink top water pik versions are problematic; the self contained handheld ones don't have the jet power needed and the tiny reservoir needs to be constantly refilled; the large ones tethered to a tank are bulky and require care to not spray the pik's stream all over the bathroom.

The ShowerPik is ideal. You use it while you shower. Connected to the house water supply, the ShowerPik has all the pressure one needs to really clean teeth. The variable valve is easily installed between the water supply and the shower head letting the user (1)keep showering while diverting water to the Pik, (2)use only the Pik or, (3)turn it off to complete showering. Some experimentation with the valve is needed to find the right pressure for your needs. Warning! Make sure you turn the ShowerPik valve off when you finish the shower.

The ShowerPik is not safe for little children because of the power of the stream and amount of water released.

I highly recommend the ShowerPik for its great utility and very affordable price.

Granted I've never used a water pick before, so my experience in this area is limited, but I have to say I'm quite impressed with this product. I had a dentist appointment and I was told that the area around one of my back molars was infected. They were going to give me an antibiotic for it, but I couldn't take it b/c I'm a nursing mom.

The hygenist recommended using a water pick (and rinsing with Listerine). She showed me the name brand one and how to use it, so off I went in search for one. I read the reviews and was disheartened by the fact that the name brand water pick did not have very good reviews and that the other kinds were lemons.

The Oral Breeze products got such great reviews. So I gave this product a chance and I'm glad I did. Unlike the name brand water pick, this attaches directly to your faucet. You can control the pressure and temperature. You don't have to fill a tank or refill for that matter. Since my husband also uses it, we ended up ordering the additional water picks as well and it came with a pick holder. The pick holder suctions to the wall or where you want which is great. Once you're done with the attachment, you simply remove it from the faucet and store it away. It's so compact that we store it in our medicine cabinet along with the picks.

This is a very basic, straightforward product. If you're used to bells and whistles, you might think this product is overpriced. But considering that it doesn't require a motor to power the water or a tank to fill with water and you probably won't need to replace any parts (except the picks after long time use), I'd say it's worth the money.

I'm very pleased with this product.
