Showoff is one of the best bands out there. I love EVERY SINGLE SONG! Not only do they play and write their music well but, they've got GREAT voices. I could fall asleep (and in love) listening to "Unspoken Words" all night. They've got a great sound--I would say pop punk with a splash of emo and some 50's rock thrown in--and then there's the last song which is more PUNK punk (Oi! Oi! Oi!) They sound like Get Up Kids meets Green Day meets Elvis Costello...if you know what I mean. Great combination if you ask me. My favorite songs are Ralphie and Someone. Anyways, I can't imagine life without my Showoff CD; it gets be through the day. So, if you don't have it, you're missing out.

Unfortunately, not a short while ago, Showoff broke up. I must admit that i was sad when i heard the news. Although this cd is by no means great, it does have many good songs to it, and they certainly had potential to be great. Songs like Tell me, Bully, Gone, Coalition, And the Anti Song (with an apperance by John Feldman of the greatest band ever, GOLDFINGER!) they also released some new material that was suppose to be on their upcoming album. If you go to their website (www.showoffmusic.com) i think you can heard 3 new songs, which are all pretty good. Anyway, its just sad that a good band like showoff had to end after only their first cd.

MY MOM IS 40 AND MY DAD IS 46 AND EVEN THEY LIKE THIS CD! I HAVE MANY CDS IN MY COLLECTION AND SHOWOFF IS ALWAYS IN MY RADIO. I remember being the absolute first person to buy their cd, well probably not,but this is a great band. if your looking for punk,..eh..its ok. but it has a lighter tone and a lot of songs, well lets just call it emo. The band has really good songs similar to all good emo melodic "punk(well maybe not)" its all about trying to get girls, losin them and its just well, good music. based on what you read before, they are not as light as i said, there is this really cool song (the last track) that is somewhat punk, and it defines what their music stands for" OI!

Showoff had a great sound! Fantastic melodies. Excellent lyrics. And outstanding musicianship. Unfortunately, the boys made this one album and called it quits. The good news is that Chris has gotten together with a couple excellent musicians (Matt and Brian) and formed a new group, The Holiday. Showoff was one of the first bands signed to Madonna's Maverick label, demonstrating that their talent was noticeable immediately. This album is an excellent pop punk disc with a good chunk of emo thrown in. I've seen them live, and they displayed great musicianship, which is often rare in any kind of "punk" band. Most of their songs are rocking, with a few slower ballads (which are very good) and some 50's flavoring on "Falling Star." I look forward to their subsequent release, scheduled for a Spring 2001 release.

This CD is what I always look for in music, good with a lot of edgy riffs. There is not one song on this cd I do not like. I first heard the single "Falling Star" on 120 minutes on Mtv, now I am hooked. I listen to this cd almost every day and it never gets old. It has just the right mix of everything, from PUNK, to ROCK. Plus the extra tracks after "The Anti Song" should be a normal track on the cd because they are just as good as the rest of the songs. I would recommend this CD to everybody that just like Punk even somewhat. It's punk but it is not they throw other forms of music into the mix, which makes it perfect. All I have to say is buy this cd, you won't regret it!!!!

I live in VERY northern California (Crescent City) and when this CD first came out they didn't carry it in any of the stores around here, so I went down to Sacramento to buy it, well my familiy and I were vacationing down there, but anyhow it is great! I listen to it at least once every day. It gets me started in the morning before school. I know all the words and belt out ever tune. If you are looking for a great CD, that is way underpriced, this is the CD for you!
