This review is from: Shows 1943 3 (Audio CD)
These recordings are part of a three CD set, sold together or separately, providing a virtual replication of Perry's popular radio broadcasts circa 1943. The nicest thing about this compilation is it's inherent honesty. What you see is what you get. If you're old enough to remember Perry's radio broadcasts then these recordings will bring back memories of that time. If you're a baby boomer, like myself, or even younger, then these recordings will give you some idea of what it was like back then. These recordings pre-date the quality of radio broadcasts we now take for granted, they pre-date Hi-fi and Stereo FM as we know it, and need to be appreciated within the context of their era. The people who put together these compilations have done it honestly, they haven't masked the recordings behind modern photographs, nor have they falsely given the impression that these recordings are newer than they are . . . as a number of others have done! If you want to hear what radio was like in 1943, and in particular Perry's popular show, then this collection is well worth the money.
