3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Graphics, Challenging Gameplay, January 25, 2012
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Showtime Championship Boxing (Video Game)
While the "big brother" version on the Wii has been lambasted, this one obviously hasn't reached a lot of portable consoles.

The graphics aren't too bad. The fighters are a little blocky and stiff but it is a DS after all. The three main gameplay function are Amateur, Contender, Showtime, and King of the Ring belts. The first two are easy. The last fighter is very difficult.

There are two weight classes, welterweight and heavyweight. They all have punny names like Terrible Ivan. They also all have the same type of fighting. If you know boxing like I do you'll be frustrated by the lack of real defense. No bobbing and weaving as we know it. You just lean from one side to the other and throw some real strange looking punches.

Not the greatest title but the challenge of unlocking every boxer makes it worth a look.
