1.0 out of 5 stars One of the Worst Games Out
Where to begin!

First off the trailer for the game looks excellent, until you play the game... This game is definitely not wii sports boxing. The range of motion for your boxer (and others) is quick flicks of the wii-mote. Standing up and punching, blocking and leaning as in wii sports boxing is a no-go.

The most annoying aspect is the in-game...

The most annoying aspect is the in-game sounds. Basically, your character and the in-game characters have three different noises. High pitch, low pitch and "Puhffft" grunts. Trust me, play this game for five minutes and the same sound over and over gets very stale very quick.

Overall the graphics are decent, but combined with the terrible audio, lackluster controls make for a boring game.

This game is real bad. It is better graphically than Wii Sports Boxing but not at all better in game play. Save your money for something better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the Boxing game for the WII, December 15, 2007

I was excited about a boxing game for the we and was very disappointed in this games performance. Very unsophistocated in everyway. Not responsive to the Wii motion system. Ready to Rumble is better and that came out 6 or 7 years ago. Very disappointed, cannot believe such a game is on the market.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, December 18, 2007

Controls are absolutely horrible, and there is zero character customization (There are 5 or 6 male, premade characters). The view during 2-player matches isn't split screen, which detracts from any possiblity of a first-person feeling. The single improvement over Wii boxing is that you can walk around the ring with the nunchuck joystick. The game is simply terrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars blah graphics, horrible response to controls, June 12, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Showtime Championship Boxing (Video Game)
Pros:
--- graphics:
graphics are at least somewhat realistic & comparable to the Ps2.. almost. it's much more realistic & better for the eyes to watch to know how to move.
--- speed:
movements of the fighters are much slower then wii boxing or victorious boxers which makes it more realistic & strategy more important. it is very easy to track & see when a fighter is about to & is punching you or blocking.

Cons:
--- no music: only a few grunt noises
--- only 4 boxer choices to start with:
one being very overweight & hairy, though give points for graphics, I didn't want to choose him nor fight him because it was too realistic. lol
--- unresponsive to normal punches & blocks:
I did the tutorial, it worked there, but in the ring? nope. I couldn't do a body block for the life of me & head block took several attempts each time. instead of fighting, I just started experimenting & counting how many times the game responded to my punching: 2 out of 4 times. sometimes only 1 out of 4 times even for very slow, good form punches.
--- lack of punching choices: there were no hooks & I forget if there were uppercuts, I think so, but I think I got it to respond 1x to do that though I made repeated attempts in my game response experiment. there is only mostly jabs & punches & holding down B or Z for super punches/jabs.
--- 3rd person view:
you are too far away, they should have made the camera closer or see-thru like wii boxing for a more realistic feel.

wii boxing & victorious boxers: revolution are much better, with VB being more responsive/real fighting but harder to see with drawn graphics.

1.0 out of 5 stars Downgrade from Wii Sports, September 17, 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Showtime Championship Boxing (Video Game)
If anyone would have reviewed this game, I wouldn't have bought it. This is why.

CONS:
-No character creation or personalization
-No training or leveling up
-Controls are less responsive than Wii Sports
-4 belt contentions, totalling 15 fights (and then you're done)

PROS:
-Characters are not Mii people
-Power punch

I love boxing games and so does my 9 year old son. We are both pros on Wii Sports (which takes some doing!) and we were looking for the next level of boxing. This isn't it. It is definitely a step backwards. Be forewarned!

Boo!!! I was hoping for more punching back and training, but even the boxing seems less responsive than the pre-package Wii version.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, terrible, terrible. Don't waste your money!, May 4, 2009

I love wii boxing and thought this game looked fun when I bought it. I should have looked at the Amazon reviews prior but I was at a store and excited to play it.

Complete waste of money. You'd have more fun watching your $14.99 swirling around in the toilet bowl when you flushed it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pathetic excuse for a game!, January 11, 2009

I agree with all of the other reviews on this poor excuse for a game - it's horrible! What a joke! The only positive is that the graphics aren't bad. The rest is pathetic. The Wii sensor will not pick up the punching motion very well at all - it is waaaaaaay too slow. You have to be holding your controls in a certain position in order to throw certain punches and your power punches take a while to throw because you have to hold a button down for a while first to get enough power to throw a good one. By that time, your opponent will have enough time to hit you a few times or dodge your punch. When you get knocked down you have to match your little circle with another circle perfectly - the nunchuck is very sensitive with each little movement so it's difficult to get it right in 10 seconds. Overall, this game sucks! Save your money and buy a game that is actually worth playing!

The sensors for this game are way too slow, and that's if it even recognizes that you're moving. Just stick with the boxing with Wii Sports.
