A Fun-Filled, Adventurous Story!, May 21, 2001
This review is from: Shrek! Novel (Movie tie-ins) (Paperback)
This story is very cleverly and creatively done. The characters are funny, especially the annoying, hilarious donkey who just won't stop talking!! Shrek is an interesting protagonist for a story. A giant who rescues random damsels-in-distress and fights and acts like a knight- even though judging by his physical appearance, one would never guess this giant could be so gentle and kind-hearted. The princess Shrek rescues has a secret. I won't tell you what it is. (I don't want to spoil the surprise) but it's a great story, fun characters, and an awesome adventure! The movie is great, too. So- movie or book, I'm sure it will be enjoyable to learn the story of Shrek, the gentle, kind-hearted giant. Enjoy!

A film?, September 5, 2001
This review is from: Shrek! Novel (Movie tie-ins) (Paperback)
I am a 14-years-old boy and I have read thousands of books and I have seen thousands of films. A week ago, I decided to go to the cinema to see this film,'Shrek'. I spent the most enjoyable 2 hours(approx.) sat on a chair in front of a screen. I am Spanish so I aw the Spanish version. Simply awesome. I do not think 'Shrek' is a film. The magic this Spielberg-film (as always) transmits to its viewer converts it in something more than just a film. I haven't seen a film, I have seen a reflection of life, an exciting story, a disconnection of the same rutine which we experince when we watch any film. 'Shrek is different', 'Shrek' is simply the best film I have seen EVER. The book has also caused an impact on me. It is a beautiful story which will entertain everyone who sees or reads it, doesn't matter the age. This is why I can't avoid giving 'Shrek' the maximum punctuation, because it is more than a film and a book. It's... MAGIC.

Excellent--- Clearly a Winner!!, April 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Shrek! Novel (Movie tie-ins) (Paperback)
After I saw the movie, Shrek, I was dying to recieve the book based on the movie. No, I did not want to read the original version because, well... picture books aren't my thing. The book followed the movie completely-- it only left out a few slight details that you hardly notice, but otherwise, the book is very much like the film. I would recommend this book to anyone who has seen the movie Shrek-- or is just a fan of Shrek! Ellen Weiss clearly knows how to transform a great movie in an excellent book. I give it two thumbs up! Yes, the movie gives the message that it doesn't matter what you look like, but they were making fun of Lord Farquaad--excuse me, the bad guy?! I mean, he injurs innocent gingerbread men! How cruel is that? Unless you're on Farquaad's side, I believe that they were not making fun of petite people-- and that's another thing, that's nice to refer to them as "short people"-- geez, that's really respectful.
