First, this game is awesome. Did you knwo that a Shrek game is released almost every year? O.K. on with the review. I like this game. You race alone or with a friend in 18 levels and I think like 12 characters. Here are a few of them, Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingy, Pinnochio, Three Pigs, Prince Charming, Pixie lady, Mysterious masked dude, Humpty Dumpty, and I can't remember the other. The levels are- Shrek's Swamp, The forest, Haunted Woods, Far, Far, Away (3 levels), Farmland, Potion Factory Exterior, Potion Factory Interior, Mountain Pass, Dragon's Castle (2 levels), and alot more. The gameplay is cool, you can collect power ups along the way to hit your opponents or just whack them on their side. I like it that they have a lineup of the characters playing, what position they're in, if they have a power up, or if they got hit by a power up. You cna get stuck in some spots like corners or just anyhwere, but you get out of them quickly. The modes are- Tournament Mode to unlock characters and courses, Single Tournament and play three levels consecutilvely, Free Race or something like that to pick 1 course and a character and race. Time Trial to beat your own high scores. The best part is multiplayer! You can do all the modes except a new one is added- Battle! I haven't tried it yet, but you attack your opponents with items and see who gets to 10 wins first. All in all, you should totally buy this game!

My little boy had this game and it got broken so I was excited to find it on Amazon. He is thrilled to have it again. The game is in excellent condition and plays like a brand new one.

Kids love trying to play this, but it is very hard to steer. I guess it comes with practice but we can't clear the first level because we crash constantly and can't come in any decent place to advance. Kids love the Shrek characters though.

My son is 6 and just loves this game, it is one of his favorites. You can unlock new character when you win, exploring new terrian.

my grandkids had this game before. they got a WII after they got rid of their old PS2 and want another PS2. go them a refurbished one for c-mas this year and got Shrek again. they loved this game!!!

This is one of the few playstation games that very young children can enjoy and play and there is enough gameplay to keep older players entertained.
The game play is very good, you unlock more and more tracks and characters as the game progresses. Once you have mastered all the tracks you then unlock 'mirror mode' which is funny as you have to retrain your brain to the opposite corners and turns. The characters have different driving styles. Some like Gingy are super fast but hard to control whereas others like Princess Fiona are easier to control but slower to accelerate. There are hidden short cuts which can help you to win the race and hidden levers which open up other short cuts. There are various weapons you can collect along the way to launch at your opponents. These weapons like flying frogs, birds, whirlwinds and rockets are a major part of the game so there is an added skill of collecting and launching these while still trying to win the race.
There is also a 2 player battle mode which is a 2 player head to head of all these weapons in a choice of four locations.
There are tournaments and cup challenges which if you get in the top three unlock different parts of the game. To progress you must master the tracks which may limit the initial gameplay. It is rewarding as the tracks get better and better.
The characters are great with 'Shrek' voices ie Fiona is voiced by Cameron Diaz, Donkey is Eddie Murphy etc and they all hit with their unique hilarious weapons eg Pinocchio uses his nose and the game has great music and humour with the phrases the characters use. My personal favourite is Gingy saying 'I'd like to thank my parents for baking me' when he wins.
My children haven't tired of this game and my 3 year old has mastered the battles and can complete the earlier tracks (although coming last). My 6 year old can place highly in the tracks and beat me in battles fairly and squarely.
Highly recommended although parents may have to open some of the levels to give children more characters and more tracks to play with.

My children still love this game and it rates as higher than 5*. One of the best games we have ever bought.
