NOT SUPER SMASH Brothers, But Really really Good,
By
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Shrek SuperSlam (Video Game)
Let's get this out of the way. It is no super smash brothers. There are no really cool mini-games. There are no adventure modes for each character. Now the good side. They have done a fine job with this game. It is wonderful. You begin with unlocked shrek, donkey, fiona, ogre fiona, prince charming, black knight, puss in boots, gingy, and pinochio. Then there an equal amount of characters to unlock. You also begin the game with 6-7 levels to fight on. Now here is where Shrek whoops up on smash brothers: The environments are highly interactive. You will cut tables in half, smash down walls ect. Most of teh environment you can also pick up and use. Slamming someone with a slab of meat in the chef's kitchen is just great. All of the chracters have a special slam ability that is way fun. For example, pinochio grows huge nose and begins poking the hebejebies out of everyone, Shrek does a nasty green toot, and Puss gets on all fours and runs around working people over like a rabid tiger. All in all I was skeptical coming into this game, but was very impressed with the end product. THis is a game that both myself and my 2 five year olds love.

One of the Greatest from Activision!,

This game is very fun. I found it really easy to just pick up and play without having to read the directions. The controls are easy to get the hang of. O.k. here we go. Shrek Super Slam is a great game from Activision. You fight the other player(s) to use your special slam on them in the arena. There's lots of characters to play as(20). Here are a few of my favorites: Puss in Boots, Prince Charming, G-Nome, and Humpty Dumpty. The levels are awesome too. My favorites are: The Poison Apple, Gingerbread Hizzle, and Beanstalk Park. There is story mode where you fight different characters in 10 levels. The story is Shrek and his friends are going over to Donkey's house to watch Survivor: Sherwood Forest and the Dronkey's are still awake creating chaos, to get them to sleep, Shrek and his pals take turns fighting to get the dronkey's to sleep. There's also challenge mode. You do challenges, tournaments, and bonuses, to unlcok characters, arenas, and costumes. There's also melee, where you and computer players or friends team up or have a free-for-all in arenas. Training is just to tell you how to play the game and the basic controls. I didn't do it. Multiplayer is more fun then solo. You can do melee or king of the hill. Melee is great, but king of the hill, stupid. Overall, I would give this an A- for fun game.

My friends and I love to battle it out in this game. We laugh so much. It's fun to try all the characters. The single player story line is cute and unlocks some fun stuff. There are lots of things to do, my only complaint is that I wish more of it was multi-player. This is definitely a game that is more fun played with friends.

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. This game is NOT Super Smash Bros., but is still greatly fun! The levels, as the previous reviewer said, are a lot better than SSBM, each one having their own unique items and such. And, you can throw a lot of parts of the level. For example, one level is inside the Poison Apple from Shrek 2. There is a billiard table that you can break in half. Then, you can toss the halves of it at your opponents. One thing I DON'T like about this game is that it has a few glitches. One that me and my brothers discovered is that when you are Fiona (not ogre), it sometimes makes you unable to move for no reason. You can still fight, but you can't move. We have no idea WHY this happens, but it happens from time to time. Another glitch happens when you use your shield to bounce an item that someone threw at you back. My brother threw an item at me, then I bounced it back at him using my shield, then he did the same, and so on, until he finally put up his shield too late and the item hit him, giving me a Slam point. This wouldn't be a glitch if I had actually DONE a slam, but I hadn't, and the object of the game is to GET Slam points by USING YOUR SLAM ATTACK, NOT BY BOUNCING OBJECTS BACK AT THE THROWER MULTIPLE TIMES!!!! Still, all in all, this is a GREEAAAATT game! Me and my brothers LOVE it, and I highly reccommend it!

Breaking news! Shrek Superslam SLAMS competition!,
A Kid's Review

This is a great game. To start off the review, I'd just like to say that this game probably has the most unlockable players, arenas, and other stuff out of all the video games out there. Okay, basicly, here's how you win.
Story Mode: You'll play through several levels of combat to win story mode. Melee: This is where it gets fun. Grab three of your friends and battle, or by yourself against the computer. Mega Challenges: Play these mini games to unlock players and arenas. Training Mode: Fine tune your skills against a non-moving computer opponent. ________________________________________________________________ In case your interested, here's a list of the players in the game. The catagory in ( ) symbals how good their special move, or Slam, is. Shrek (great) My favorite, Puss in Boots (great) Fiona (okay) Fiona Ogre (good) Prince Charming (good) Black Knight (okay) Donkey (okay) Pinoccio (good) Gingerbread Man (good) Here's some of the locked ones. Dronkey (great) Captain Hook (great) Robin Hood (poor) Cyclops (okay) Quasimodo (good) Humpty Dumpty (good) Anthrax (poor) Luna (unknown) Red Riding Hood (unknown) Huff n' Puff Wolf (good) Hope that's helpful! Oh, and incase your wondering, Anthrax is a unicorn. Sincerely, RedHawk48. GO COWBOYS! GO DESPERADOS! GO WHITE SOX!

Shrek SuperSlam is a really good melee brawler, especially when you have 3 other friends duking it out with you. It seems like it might appeal more to kids, but I believe anyone can enjoy it, from age 8 to 108.

If you enjoy the Shrek movies, more than likely you will have fun with this game. It's a multiplayer game. It is like Super Smash Brothers for the Wii. A lot of characters and levels to choose from. I did not LOVE this game just because of my own tastes, and I haven't had much time to play it. But, I do enjoy it. It is fun to play if you have people at your home who enjoy Shrek as well.

My children have 3 of the Shrek games: Smash & Crash Racing + Shrek the Third which are good and Shrek Carnival which is not so good. This rates very highly as a 5 star game in comparison. The graphics and music are excellent and it really feels as if you are playing as 'Shrek' or any of the numerous other characters you can play and unlock, each with their own very special moves and weapons. Weapons are Giants Hams, Fart Wands, Pirate Cannons, Beehives, Magnets + lots more. Very funny to unleash. As the game progresses you unlock more characters with better skills and lots more fighting arenas. This truly is a game for all ages.
The pacifist in me doesn't quite approve of multiplayer contestants hitting each other silly but this game is great fun and the fighting and humour is more 'Tom and Jerry' than a boxing match. There are many magical items like potions which give you special powers - you can disappear, move quicker, become invulnerable etc. There are also funny hats you can collect with specal powers. There are no 'injuries' to the characters and it is a game I am happy for my 4 year old to play. The main aim of the games is to perform super slams. You collect enough energy by hitting your opponent (each different character has an 'attack tree' of special moves to learn) and you can then unleash your funny, strongest 'slam move' when your slam meter is full. The screen helpfully prompts you to press the green triangle when your meter is full. The action is very fast and furious. My 4 year old can play by just hitting the square button for moves but you can get all technical and follow the 'attack tree' of specialist moves which again is very simple and usually something like triangle, square, square. It should prove a challenge to older players too especially when attempting the mega challenges mode against the computer. There is a great deal of gameplay. In single player mode you have: *Story Mode - it goes through all the different battle arenas with a weakily linked bedtime story theme. It is not like 'Shrek the Third' story mode. *Mega Challenges = 45 Mega Challenges and 7 bonus challenges. Winning these unlocks extra characters like Robin Hood. There are different tasks like 'protecting a character' which makes it above and beyond just a fighting free for all. Sometimes you are paired with a computer generated partner, sometimes it's you against 1- 3 computer generated opponents. The tournaments do get harder and you are forced to play as different characters so you get a good variety of fun fights and tasks. *Melee - fighting aginst up to 3 computer generated Shrek characters. *Training - Learn the basic moves of characters. *Trophy room - where you can visit, pick up and throw the trophies you win On mutiplayer mode (up to four players but you need a multitap for more than 2) you can enter 'Melee' Mode - fighting or 'King of the Hill' where you have to stand at the top of an icy hill without sliding off or being hit off by your opponents. The first player who totals 30 seconds at the top wins. The fighting arenas are fairly small but varied and fun and super slams destroy the scenery eg bricks fall out of walls which is quite funny. It is lots of fun dashing around, collecting items and trying to knock your opponent of cliff edges and attempting to superslam them. Highly recommended.

considering all the adult content seeping into video games these days, this game is good clean fun - lots of humorous Shrek antics and lots of fun for kids to battle with their friends - not too hard for parents to pick up either. tons of characters to unlock -
