Book Description

Nothing can explain to Aydan Fulbert how she survived the savage attack in the woods. Why her left eye, instead of being blinded by the injuries she'd sustained, had simply turned a shocking shade of silver. And nothing can explain the fact that she can hear the Stranger speaking in her mind - or that she can answer him back without using her mouth.

Nothing can explain it - unless he's telling the truth.

Nothing can explain the things the Stranger knows about her - things that she, until just a few hours ago, hadn't known herself: that she'd healed faster from her injuries than was humanly possible. That the cruel family she'd been raised by isn't biologically hers. That her stepfather is now hell-bent on bringing her to his own form of justice for a crime she didn't commit.

Nothing can explain it - unless he's telling the truth.

Nothing can explain why she so easily agreed to go with the Stranger. Why she didn't find the notion of another world ludicrous and impossible. Why she didn't cut and run the minute he explained where he wanted to take her.

Nothing can explain it - unless she believes he's telling the truth.

Aydan knows she's being intentionally naive. She knows her decision to follow the stranger is at best, reckless. At worst, deadly.

...unless he's telling the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating tale August 26, 2012
By Naeners
Format:Kindle Edition
As an avid reader, I have a short list of authors whom I can always depend on to write a captivating tale, allowing me an escape from everyday life. After reading Book One of the Shrilugh series, I am convinced that Myndi Shafer deserves a spot on my short list. Shrilugh is a terrific story filled with amazing imagery and fascinating characters. Every page found me entranced by the events and the characters. When I wasn't reading this book (as I had to do something more than just sit and read this book cover to cover), I would think about the story, wondering how a certain situation would play out. I have read countless books that, while interesting enough to keep me reading until the end, have failed to garner my empathy for the characters in the book. Myndi has achieved exactly that. I truly cared about the main characters and felt many of the same emotions as the characters. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book. Already looking forward to Book Two of the Shrilugh series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Adventure August 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Hi folks, today I've got a book review for you. The book is Shrilugh (Shree-loo) by Myndi Shafer. Myndi is a new author and this is her first book, I think. I can tell we'll hear lots about her for many years to come. Her style is reminiscent of Jane Austen with a dash of Stephanie Myers.
Shrilugh is a rollicking adventure story, yet the author has a firm grasp on the emotional turmoil brought on when life insists you leave childhood behind and grow up. I found it fascinating to watch as Ayden struggles with releasing a past she can never re-gain and facing a future that terrifies her. If you like the Twilight series you will love this too.
I have only one small complaint about Shrilugh. The ending gave no relief, not even a small respite for Ayden. We know going in this is part one of a trilogy, but in the style of Tolkien, the story just cuts off leaving you hanging. I much prefer a J.K.Rowling style where you get some solution at the end of each book. Having said that, Shrilugh is a real page turner and I will be purchasing the next two installments as soon as they hit the e-shops.
I give Shrilugh four stars out of five. Great work Myndi. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for book 2! August 31, 2012
By Missy
Format:Kindle Edition
Shrilugh (Shree-loo) is an intriguing story of a girl whose life has never been easy. You will find yourself rooting for Aydan at times and wanting to shake her at others for being too naive and trusting. You will find yourself angry at her for manipulating her boyfriend Brig but then you will find yourself truly feeling the emotions of the grief she feels when she realizes he is not with her in the other world. Myndi has a true grasp on and is able to beautifully weave the emotions one feels when they lose someone so close to them. You will giggle at the thought of this `tomboy' girl being forced to wear long, heavy, brocaded dresses and you will totally sympathize with her when she begs to be allowed to dress and bathe in private (can you even imagine having to have someone put your unders on for you?!? I can't!). You will relate to her stubborn streak and feel like yelling "You go girl," when she walks away from Rein after he reveals truths to her that are too hard to understand. Your heart will break when she is within feet of the woman who gave birth to her, but unable to speak or touch her. You will feel the fear she feels when she comes face to face with the man who wants her dead and you will feel the coldness of his heart as he tells her he has `plans' for her real mom. I love a book that takes me down an emotional roller coaster and this book does just that. I cannot wait for the next one to come out and just know we are going to read great things from Myndi in the future!
