Editorial Reviews

24 gems from Kent, the world's rarest soul label. Amongst the established classics from Ray Pollard, the Cautions, the D.C. Blossoms and the Enjoyables, are a total of six previously unreleased tracks and two tracks (the Prophets/Leroy Taylor & the Four Kays) that only ever gained a release via Horaces LPs. Ace Records. 2002.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shrine: The Rarest Soul Label Ever, Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
When I received the Shrine Records collection Vol. 1 and 2, directly from Amazon.com and referred to me by a close friend (himself a long-time collector of sweet soul music from the 60s-70s), I was literally "chomping-at-the-bit" to put it on! Well, I wasn't disappointed one bit. Admittedly, many of the artists were beyond obscure (the label only lasted a few years, from our nation's capitol, Washington, DC) but the music itself was sublime, danceable to be sure but the hookd were amazing. Especially the JD Bryant and Ray Pollard stuff! I have played both cds at least 5 times since I first got it in early January and I will be playing soon again, especially the 14th, when my imaginary girlfriend comes along. Oh well!
