My wife and I saw Geoff Byrd open for Hall & Oates in Washington D.C. a few weeks back. He came onstage solo, armed only with an acoustic guitar, and blew everyone away. He is a singing and songwriting talent and this album is amazing from start to finish. This album only gets better with each playing as layer after layer is revealed...first, you notice the catchy melodies, then you appreciate the incredible vocal talent of Byrd, and then the great lyrics.

Do yourself a favor...grab this album and appreciate an artist who is the real deal and on his way up.

This is a no-brainer!!

I accidently stumbled over Geoff Byrds music a couple of months ago. I soon realised that this is what should be playing on the radio instead of the over the top produced pop without any soul.

Don't be intimiated by the crappy cover with the somewhat cheesy picture of Mr Byrd, this guy IS for real.

There is not a single song on this CD that is not worth listening to. That's whats incredible! I am usually glad if I can find a pop singer that has two or three songs on a CD that I like never mind a whole CD!

If you, like me, like talent seen in the likes of Gavin DeGraw and Andrew Strong then this should be next on your list.

I kind of found Geoff's music by accident but man what an incredible find!!! His lyrics are lilting and ethereal and deep and the music goes deep into your soul yet it is all very thought provoking and uplifting!!!! IT feels so good to listen it to!! It makes me HAPPY!!!

I saw him perform live and he is a funny, humble, talented guy who definately shows he has a heart of gold. I highly recommend this CD and definately if you ever get a chance to see him live.. it makes you love his music even MORE!!!

Can't wait for the next CD!!!

Every so often I venture out and buy a cd from an artist that I have never heard of just to add a little of variety into my playlist. I came accross Geoff byrd's cd and thought that not only was he a cutie but there was something interesting about the song titles. Reluctant to buy the cd just on the basis of his aesthetic appeal I listened to "plasti-queens" and "before kings" after which I became immediately hooked.

Geoff Byrds voice is crisp and clear. He also has a respectable vocal range that he uses to full capacity which is not something that very many artists do these days. I also have to mention that I love his use of instrumentation to support the songs' melody. Everything just seems to fit well on this cd.

Without a doubt I think Shrinking Violets is a great cd to own. I find myself leaving the entire cd on the replay and with the exception of one song, "That's how it goes", everything else is truly fun and catchy.

I love this album it is soo good. i never heard of Geoff Byrd and his band before but when i listen to their fist single off their 1st album i fell in love. Geoff has a great voice and his very talented. i see a good future for him and his band. i also love the band they have a great sound. if i could i would go see the perfome live. but they live soo far away. i higly recomend this album you should buy it right now. get candy shell too, their fist album. thank you

When I first heard "Before Kings" on the radio, I thought Dan Fogelberg had released a new single. Geoff's style/vocals remind me very much of Fogelberg's pre-blues work, which I loved. Excellent CD.

Shrinking Violets is refreshing. Great new sounds--love Geoff's voice--lyrics are fun. I still haven't figured out who Geoff & the band remind me of in terms of sound. Someone from the past...maybe more present? Dave Matthews sometimes?

Also, the string arrangements add a lot. Wish there were more-- the playing in Shrinking Violets is pretty amazing.

A great "road trip" CD.

Some weeks ago I red that John Oates was working on new songs with Geoff Byrd.I thought:"Who is this new artist?".
Thanks to Internet in a few minutes I knew that he was a singer/songwriter with three cds already released and that he used to open Hall & Oates concerts.
I bought on line is last cd,without listen to one note before.One week ago I received the cd and I began to listen to his songs and I discovered a new and original artist!
His voice is one of the best I heard in many years (my favorite singers are Daryl Hall ,Smokey Robinson and Michael McDonald!)and the cd is one of the best from the time of New Radicals(or Gregg Alexander!)cd,becouse it's fresh and new ,but has its roots deep in the best american music of last fourthy years!
If you like Motown, Rock'n Soul and other good music you'll love this album!

This music makes you want to dance in the aisles, drive faster, jump higher... The words are meaningful, twisting themselves around your brain until you sing along with utter abandon! Worth a complete listen, nothing boring here. No disappointments just leaves you wanting more because it's so GOOD!

This is one of those rare gems that come around only once in a blue moon!!! Geoff is brilliant - kinda like a Bernie Taupin and Elton John rolled into one person! GREAT LYRICS and GREAT MELODIES - making for some really memorable songs...LOVE THIS CD!!! I'm so glad that I discovered this music...I'm hooked!
