Best book you will find on this subject..,

This review is from: Shrunken Heads: Tsantsa Trophies and Human Exotica (Hardcover)
This book is well written from a scientific point of view but still easy to read. The author really did his research. What makes this book even more amazing is the number of good quality pictures.. I believe there are over 150 color photos and 23 B&W photos. I have seen a few books on this subject matter but they are older books with very few pictures that are in B&W. I believe this is the best and most current(2002) book ever written on this subject.

As an occasional curator and restorer of these items; I can honestly say that this book is a very valuable reference and resource. Especially useful to me is the clear differences between authentic shrunken heads and various simulated or "fakes." Most of the privately-held (and some of the museum's) heads in the U.S. that I have seen are not authentic. The color photographs are top quality and the text is not disappointing.

Excellent book with a great amount of research and documentation. This book comes highly recommended. I would also like to add that the author includes his Email address, which makes it easy to contact him for further information on this interesting an important topic. This book also contains by far the most complete pictoral record of shrunken heads anywhere to be found-there has to be over 50 included in the book-both traditional and non-ceremonial.
