This review is from: Shul with a Pool: The "Synagogue-Center" in American Jewish History (Brandeis Series in American Jewish History, Culture and Life) (Paperback)
Look out, water gerbils... Talented Jewish historian David Kaufman is sure to make a real splash with this meticulous, highly readable and lovingly illustrated tour through the history of the American Jewish community and its social institutions. Kaufman dives right into his fascinating material, to show how the modern JCC evolved from its early origins, and this erudite combination of chlorine and kehilla will enhance the reader's understanding of American Jewish history. Highly recommended! But wait at least one hour after meals before reading.
