THE BULLET HITS THE BULLSEYE!,
By G. J. Cook (key west fl) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shure Green Bullet 520DX Dynamic Harmonica Microphone (Electronics)
i've been using the bullet for years and find its "dirty" sound just what i need. some may feel that this mic is too heavy, but i don't think it is. and since shure added a volume control i like it even better. if there is one thing i could say about the bullet that needs changing, it's the cable. it is really not secured strongly into the mic and if you happen to accidentaly step on it while you're playing, you stand a good chance of ripping it right out of the microphone. if it wasn't for that, i'd give the bullet a five star rateing. jersey slim

A classic...,

After attempting to use several other mics to play harmonica through, I finally bought one of these and have never been sorry I did. This mic is perfect for harmonica. The range of sound is great, it is comfortable and easy to hold in your hands with the harmonica, and it doubles as a decent voice microphone. In fact, I think it adds its own flavor to any sound that is sent through it. I highly recommend this mic, and this is a good price.

Little Walter could play through anything...,

... and still sound great. Hate to break this to you, but you're no Little Walter! Well, at least I'm not. :) I've tried cheaper mics. This one makes a real difference. It's substantial to hold in your hand, deceptively heavy. The volume control is great...I can go from playing rhythm harmonica to taking the lead very easily. If you're serious about blues harp, this is the mic you need.

This Harp microphone was exactly what I was looking for. It has a nice fit in the hand and is easy to hold while playing. The volume control is a must for someone who is wanting to move out front an let the harp sound fly. The quality is excellent. Now I see why this model of mircophone has been around so long and why everyone who plays seriously is using the Green Bullet.

The microphone you need for the harmonica,

If you play the harmonica and need amplification for a band, this is the microphone you need to buy. It's that simple. You can run it through a tube amp, or just run it through the PA, and it will give you that dirty blues harp sound that you want. The volume knob is a great plus, and so far the thing is sturdy as a brick. The cable is plenty long enough to walk around while you're doing your harp solo. You don't even have to be a great harmonica player, suck in, blow out, bend a few notes, and this thing will make you sound awesome.

My husband plays the blues harmonica and asked for this microphone for his birthday. This is the first microphone that he ever used while playing the harmonica, but it was easy for him to hold and play at the same time. And, it produced a good quality sound. It does have a little weight to it, which took some getting used to, but he has been happy with it.

This is my first purchase of a microphone. I'm using it to enhance the sound of my harmonicas. So far I'm enjoying it. I have no problem holding it while I play. I like that it has a volume control right at my fingertips. I don't mind the weight of the bullet as it was a concern after reading a few other reviews. I think it's all a personal preference.....and it's green, I like that.

Like holding a brick - TOO BIG FOR SO LITTLE,
By Corky Beachglow "Entertainment Designer" (Palos Verdes, CA USA) - See all my reviews

I've been playing R&R and Blues harp in various bands, for about 30 years now, and I've got a bunch of different types of microphones. This is at the bottom of the pile, let me tell you! It's way TOO big and HEAVY to play for any length of time and make the moves that give your playing its tonal range. The earlier magnetic resonance 520D mics like James Cotton used to play, were interesting for their sound quality, but the Astatic D35 and other Shure mics, out-perform this "brick" by far.....The new Peavey might be a winner...I tried to sell my Green Bullet, but couldn't even get $50 for it on a popular auction site. Now, I wouldn't give you $10 for this "collector's" gem, it doesn't work for performers, but looks authentic enough ha ha! The joke is on whomever thinks this is a cool mic.
