We own the Dragons and Pagodas ArchiQuest Shure ArchiQuest: Dragons and Pagodas and we recently purchased this one; we are considering collecting them all.

we love these blocks and my son and his friends play with them often. however i was disappointed in the quality. considering the high price, i expected solid, sturdy, blocks with printed or laminated decoration. instead they are lightweight wood covered with stickers. BEAUTIFUL stickers, but still...stickers. when we build a castle of any height, the loose and sometimes bubbled-up stickers, combined with the lightweight blocks, make for a VERY shaky and sloppy-looking structure. i think that my son will continue to enjoy these blocks, and even learn a bit about architecture as he gets older, but i sure hope the decorations will hold on that long!

I like very much construction toys but the educational value of the majority don't go beyond building blocks. This one is actually educational and smart. Teaches about history, history of Architecture, elements of construction etc. You can simulate the construction of real buildings. The book that comes with the set is very good. I recommend this product for the whole family, my kids are enjoying it very much. Its great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and Cool!, November 19, 2009

I purchased these blocks for my 12 year old nephew. He's in the age where electronics are the only cool thing out there; when I saw them at a bookstore I thought these ones my help him got back to his Lego years.
It did work! He loves them and I love them too! His set didn't have any of the troubles the previous review described. My nephew's are in perfect condition.
The book is amazing and he's learning a lot from it because even if it's a kids book the content is highly educational. He had some knights, he made small castle and has them on display altogether in his room and looks very neat.
I highly recommend this wonderful set of blocks. Is the perfect Birthday or Christmas present. My little girls are still young for it but I will get one for them (and my self!). Amazon has great prices on them!

2.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Disappointed, September 15, 2009
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

We bought this set for my daughter as a birthday present. We had not seen the product in a store, so were just relying on what was in the Amazon.com listing. The blocks ended up being smaller than I expected. So don't plan to use them together with your other what I would call standard size blocks.

Also, the blocks are advertised as hand-painted, with a lacquer finish. They appear, however, to be plain blocks with stickers attached, and then lacquer over that. These don't seem to be really hand-painted. The only thing I can think is that perhaps they are saying the pictures on the stickers were hand-drawn originally(?) In some cases the stickers were already peeling from some of the blocks in our set. Given the quality of the set, I think the price is really too high for what you get. I was expecting more.

On the positive side, my kids do like the blocks. The box has enough space once you take out the packaging to fit the blocks for storage, even without putting them back in a precise order. Also, the book that comes with the set is nice, and gives lots of ideas for buildings that you can make with the set.

My father bought this set for my almost 10 year old son. These are the most incredible blocks I've ever seen!!
The illustrations are amazing, the book is highly educational (for my son and my self!) and you can actually built real stuff. It's simply amazing. My youngest son (now 3) love to play with them but I think he's still to young to get the real picture of this fantastic toy but he loves being around them and it's a toy the whole family is having fun with.

I purchased this block set for my two+ grand daughter and she loves it almost as much as her Dad who build the castles and watch her break them down. A lot of joy to see them playing together.
