5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, solid, and it works
Not a complicated product. It is solidly built and works great (no matter the type of headphones). Just what I needed and works as advertised.

2.0 out of 5 stars did not work
bought this to use with my noise cancelling headphones, did not work at all, was stuck using the airline headphones, let the buyer beware it does not work on all headphones.

(This is not a complex product, but I have fun writing these reviews, so here you go)...
The Shure airline adapter can be a BFF if Continental is your home away from home. As a Platinum miler (a dubious distinction I grant) I've purchased my fair share of $1 headsets. They are cra% and either fall apart before the movie ends or can sever a vein above your ear if you tend to fall asleep the wrong way. Plus the sound is awful anyway. Frustrated that I couldn't use my $200 Etymotic intra-aural earphones to deliver that fantastic in-flight entertainment & occasional super-loud announcement directly to my ear-drums, I got the Shure adapter.
The adapter works great on my Etymotic and standard issue iPod earphone jacks. But the iPod jack does stick sometimes getting in or outof the Shure. And the Shure is loose in many airline dual jacks, unfortunately. Can't change that. You'll get steady sound 80%+ of the time. The rest of the time, you're doomed to sit with one hand positioned gently on the jack. If that bothers you, stick with your iPod.

I always bring my own headphones on the plane already, so why should I have to buy cheap airline models just to fit that two prong audio plug? That was my reasoning when I made this purchase. Sound, logical reasoning. How did I know that airlines were about to get a clue and install standard 3.5mm plugs in place of these two prong deals? Every once in a while this adapter still comes in handy when I want to watch the movie with a decent set of headphones. I still give this adapter 5 stars, because it works well when I need it, I just dont need it as much as I thought I would.

By the way, this adapter works for all earphones I have used it with, not just Shures. Its a pretty standard 3.5mm plug.

4.0 out of 5 stars I buy these in bulk, October 31, 2008
This review is from: Shure PA658 Airline Adapter for Shure Earphones (Electronics)
I carry extras for my seatmates. The airlines should give/sell these instead of their lame headphones. These are a little flimsier than the ones that come with the high dollar Bose QC headphones and a little better than the ones that come with the headphones on Delta flights.

They did what they were supposed to. Worked great on my flight to Germany. Used my own headphones!
