Very Clean Audio,
By
This review is from: Shure SE310 Sound Isolating Earphone - White (Electronics)
I did a lot of research leading up to my purchase of the Shure SE310's. I had high hopes when I listened to them for the first time. But they seemed to be lacking in the bass department. Other than that they had really clean audio and sounded spectacular. Upon researching why they lacked bass, I discovered many peoples' claim of a break in period before the earbuds got loosened up and provided more bass. And over time I have noticed this to be true to a certain extent. I had an old pair of $40 Sony sound isolating earbuds which had a ton of bass, and when I first listened to the Shure's I thought they sounded weak, but now after listening to the SE310's for about a month, I can say they definitely sound better than the Sony's. Though the cheaper Sony's have a little more bass, it sounds boomy and tends to cover over the detail of other instruments, whereas the Shure's are crystal clear and the bass is very defined. One of the best things about the SE310's is their ability to block out external sound. I'm a college student and at one of our basketball games I decided to take my earbuds and see how well they blocked out sound. It was just before the game with the entire gymnasium going nuts and the band playing very loudly. I put the earbuds in and I could still comfortably listen at the levels I normally listen to, which isn't very loud by any means (I value my hearing. I have my Creative Zen Vision:M volume at 10 out of 25). They also work great when I'm trying to get work done and lots of things are going on around me. Very often I can be in my room with these things in my ears and people will come in and talk to me and I won't hear them at all. That's how good they work. Obviously it is very important that you find the right earpieces that give a good seal in your ear. I would recommend these to anyone who wants very high audio clarity. Though I would prefer a little bit more bass at lower volumes, when you turn them up they really produce. And I can't complain too much because they are meant to have a flat frequency response, so your best bet is to raise your EQ's lower frequencies a little bit and turn on the bass boost (assuming your mp3 player or sound source has these options). They come with a semi-hard zipper case to store them in as well as multiple sets of ear pieces and a wax cleaning tool. They are well worth the price tag, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone.

I purchased these for use with my Apple Macbook Pro laptop. I will say in one word - AMAZING!
These noise isolation earplugs - ISOLATE. They seem as effective as the foam earplugs I used to wear at a large manufacturing facility where I worked. I mean they seal up TIGHT and cut HUGE decibels of outside noise. As far as sound - there seems to be any number of "Audiophiles" in this world - each with their own opions of all earphones - past, present, and future. I am not an "Audiophile". I am a geek - a computer user - who enjoys listening to MP3's, or perhaps something from iTunes. I might decide to watch a DVD movie, or play (HORRORS!) a computer game. Do you know what? These ear phones are MOST EXCELLENT for any or all of these things. Treble is clear and crisp - rings like a bell. Bass is deep and vibrant. At 1/2 volume on my Macbook Pro - I could FEEL the sound literally in my bones, all the way to my feet. People who have said you need a 2 or 3 driver earphone to deliver good Bass response are out of their minds! These sound better than the 12 inch Cerwin Vegas I have hooked up to my Mitsubishi big screen - in terms of Bass response. I would dare say you would have to have at least a $2000 set of home stereo speakers to equal the sound output and quality of these inexpensive headphones. They are THAT GOOD. If you want to pay more for earphones - by all means do so. If you have some type of hyper sonic hearing and are playing with uber-super- duper sampled audio - and wish to hear the fly landing on the left cymbal during William Tells overture - perhaps something MAYBE will deliver SLIGHTLY more response for you delicate audio orifice. But for the rest of us - who listen to MP3 - watch DVD movies - and play games - THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I mean they are MAC DADDY - MONSTER - ear phones. I have NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I once owned a pair of these earphones the bass is great and you get a great sound. You also won't hear anything else in the room while music is playing. Unfortunatley they are very delicate. To give us a high quality sound shure gives us high quality wires- made of gold. Gold is a lot softer than your average earphone cable, so they damage easily. Mine lasted 6 months.

This was my third pair of Shure headphones in three years. As much as I like the sound quality and the noise isolation they provide, I have to find a more reliable product. The Shures wear out very quickly. This time the right earphone stopped working in the middle of a workout. The other two developed a short in the wiring behind the earphone. I got lucky a couple of times when the short occurred in the extension piece that was only $30 to replace and I did not have to buy a whole new set. When these headphones work, the sound quality is great. But they don't work for long and, apart from the extension wires, they are not inexpensive to replace. All total, in three years I have spent almost $800 on Shure Earphones, but have finally decided to kick the habit.

Best airline travel headphones out there,

I travel frequently and often on very long flights. I repeatedly tried various noise-canceling headphones loaned to me by coworkers. However, I could only ever wear them an hour at a time. Even though they reduced the audible noise, there was still amplitude pounding on my eardrums from both the engines and the noise canceling at a ninety degree shift. This drained me of energy and started to give me an earache over time. To make matters worse, they were big and bulky not allowing me to sleep in them. Then I purchased these earphones. First I tried them at home and was blown away by the quality of audio coming from such a small system. They sounded great on my iPhone. But I then wondered what they would sound like with uncompressed audio straight from the CD. Outstanding! I mean truly impressive. Now comes the flight. The plug part of the earphone cut out more noise than the noise canceling ones could ever hope to do. With this added benefit, I only needed to have the volume on my iPhone set at less than 1/4 volume. Anything higher was too loud. This also resulted in a longer battery life as the iPhone's battery wasn't having to push a large magnet. Even when I wasn't listening to music or watching a video, I left the earphones in as ear plugs. They are simply so comfortable I was able to travel on a 15 hour flight without ever having a need to remove them from my ears. It even felt comfortable sleeping with my ear against the pillow! This product has simply made my travel a lot more tolerable. I recommend this product to anyone that travels on commercial jets. Audiophiles or the general public. Everyone should purchase these over the noise canceling ones.

This review is from: Shure SE310-A-EFS High Definition Sound Isolating Micro Speaker Earphone with Tuned Bass Port (White) (Electronics)
I have had these headphones for a few years now and use them very frequently. I use them typically 4-5 times a week. They are great at blocking out sound while mowing the grass, weedeating, pressure washing, flying cross country, and going to the gym. They are very durable and I haven't had any issues the entire time I have had them.
The sound is very natural. Not annoying in the bass frequencies like many headphones can be and smooth in the treble range. I like the fact that these headlines have a nice full midrange and not the typical "V" shape EQ. Excellent product.

Shure SE310-K Sound Isolating Earphones (Black)Like another reviewer who gave a poor rating, I ordered these earbuds based on (positive) reviews. Just like that reviewer, I was surprised at the poor sound quality - little or no bass. My only thought is that I received a bad set (and perhaps, the other person who didn't like the earbuds also got a bad set). Since I didn't want to risk more delays, I decided to return these earbuds and buy Bose earbuds ( I already owns some; but, they are showing their age).

These have the best sound I've heard from plugs so far.
The bass is well balanced, wich seem to be a problem with most headsets! It takes a little time to get used to the fit, I ended up with the smallest foam pieces. The isolation is very good with the foam piece! I'm looking forward to using them on the plane!! I'm often running close to the highway, and a lot of traffic, can't hear a thing, even from the biggest trucks!! These plugs are sensitive, meaning you will get a lot of volume from little power from the source. I bet they did this, so that it will work well with ipods/iphones. The upside of this, is that it will work with low end players. The downside of this, is that you get more noise. I haven't had any problem with noise from my mp3 players, but when you plug them into a computer, you will probably notic it. An extern volume control, wich Shure provide, will take care of this. +great sound +delicate, balanced bass +detailed upper end +great isolation +sensitive -Prize (I got mine cheap, full prize is pretty expensive) -takes a little time to get used to the fit -sensitive I think the upsides by far dominates the downsides :D must have product!!!

I was looking for a nice upgrade from the standard iPod earbuds that would help block out a lot of the noise present during military operations. I hestitated a little bit at spending this much on a pair of headphones, but WOW!!!! Was I impressed!! It blocked out 95% of the noise made by a C-130 at a normal listening volume. Someone can be standing behind me talking to me, and I won't hear a word they say. Definitely worth the money, very comfortable for long term wear. It's pretty easy to obtain a good fit with the multiple in-ear pieces included, and the case is nice to help protect the headphones from all the use & abuse I put all my equipment through.
