Record Live Music to Computer Sound Card,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shure Tranformer
I visited the Shure website, searched their FAQ's, and found one specific to my situation. All I wanted to do was record live music to my computer through the sound card. There was a question that exactly matched my requirements and the answer was this transformer/interface. This allows me to use a boom-mounted microphone and hook the XLR cable to my computer. Right now I'm using the 'sound recorder' in Windows XP, but my next computer, presently in the works, will have a sound card and more sophisticated recording software.

connects camcorders, laptops, etc. to XLR mics,

Connecting a good mic to a camcorder or laptop (or some handheld recorders) can be clumsy. This little doohickey makes it simple. It's only 2ft long, but it's easy to extend with extra cables and adapters (try your local Radio Shack). Use a boom and you're good to go.

don't get your hopes up...,

I thought this product was a cheaper alternative to the other options for converting XLR to 3.5mm, despite the fact that it does work. It is extremely easy to break (the wire that connects the 3.5mm to the XLR plug) commonly comes apart, then one needs to resoder. If you are a person who has a cam with a 3.5mm jack and looking for an XLR adapter. As far as $$$ goes; your better off going with the beachtek DXA4.
