5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon's product description is wrong, December 19, 2011
This review is from: Shure VN5XMR Replacement Stylus (Electronics)
This is a great stylus for a legendary cartridge. That said...

The product description on this page, was written by someone smoking something. A UHF wireless system? The stylus is for replacing a worn part on a turntable cartridge. How a description about a Shure wireless system was merged onto this page is beyond me.

The best information is not in the description but in the pictures. Enclosed in the pictures is the documentation that comes with the VN5XMR. Specifications as well as incredible diagrams will help explain why this exotic metals stylus that is not manufactured anymore since the cold war supply of some types of rare earth metals caused the supply of beryllium for this product dried up. One has to go back to the future to acquire such a high tech, but in the past product.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Irreplaceable Stylus..., May 2, 2011

This review is from: Shure VN5XMR Replacement Stylus (Electronics)
Shure discontinued production of this stylus and cartridge several years ago. Fortunately I still have a virtually new one and compared it to the Jico SAS stylus which is one of the few alternates to the much-lamented Shure. The Jico works fine but the Shure has better presence. The music virtually " jumps-out " from my speakers ! I'll use this last-of-a-kind masterpiece for intensive listening only. By the time I've worn it out, I'll probably be too old to hear properly anyway...
