4.0 out of 5 stars A solid mic. Great for singing instrumentalists
It is comfortable to wear. The behind-the-head style is far better than over-the-top-of-the-head. The sound is what you would expect from a Shure microphone: strong, clean sound. Can't complain about it at all. We use it for our drummer to sing in our band.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good mic, bad headset
I've use Shure microphones for 30 years or more and this is the first time I've been disappointed. The microphone itself was fine but it was so difficult to get the mic in position and keep it there that I had to give up and return the item. I went back to using my WH20XLR which has a different type of connector between the mic and the headband.

It's a pleasure to use this microphone as I am a singer and also keyboard player. The quality is even higher than my previous SM 58.
Great !

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds great, easy to adjust. Solves a big problem, January 16, 2012

My wife and I started the praise band at our church. The church had a lot of good equipment but no idea how to use it. I played guitar and was the lead vocalist. I needed to move and look around while I played. Our tech could not figure out what a compressor was and so my vocals kept coming in and out. My only choice to was to stanf stiff still in front of the mic or buy a remote.

Since my guitar was wired to my pedal box, I saw no reasopn to buy a wireless ( much more expensive) mic. So I got this one. And it fixed everything. My vocal volume was constant and strong. I passed it through a TC-Helicon Vcal Tone box (great add) and into the main mix (through XLR).

I had no problems adjusting the mic to the right position (just slightly off center and angled up from below). It did take some practice getting this on and off with a guitar strapped on too. Hint,, always wear a belf to have someplace to clip on the mics XLR plug.

I use it for podcasting at techzinglive dot com in conjunction with a MicPort Pro (I'm the English voice). I have found this mic to be very good during the past year.

4.0 out of 5 stars No more side eye, October 20, 2011
This review is from: Shure WH30XLR Cardioid condenser headset mic with XLR connector. (Electronics)
Awesome, ordered it Sunday got it Tuesday. Free one day shipping. Love it when playing guitar and singing, especially during chords changes up a few frets. Sometimes I forget that I don't have to keep my mouth towards a mic in a stand with side eye looking down. The sound is crisp and clean, no background hiss. One thing is during M and N vocals the mic sounded like it was dropping out. Realized those vocals come from your nose, after re-positioning by angling upwards toward my nose and mouth (half/half) tones where more balanced with M and N sounds. Another thing is that you totally lose the ability to position the mic during singing. Got to change your intonation given the fact that you can no-longer kiss the mic and/or pull it away to keep the levels where you want it. There are trade offs. Either this or get really good at chord changes that run up the neck with out looking. I'm going this use it awhile, it's different and fun I suppose.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PRODUCT, BUT..., April 9, 2011

THIS IS A GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT, BY FAR THE BEST HEADSET I'VE USED. AND I'VE BEEN A SINGING DRUMMER FOR OVER 40 YEARS. BUT THE ABILITY TO GET THE MIC PLACED, "JUST RIGHT", IS VERY DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE. OTHER THAN THAT IT FITS WELL AND FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.

This is the description of this item "Shure WH30XLR Headworn Cardioid Condenser Microphone with a 10' Cable & In-Line Preamplifier", when I receive the item, it doesn't come with 10' cable, but resolved with fullcompass.com and they promised to send me the cable.

Overall the mic is very good, just not get use to it, feeling a little uncomfortable at beginning, but the mic works great.
