5.0 out of 5 stars the best from sussan deyhim eastern dub
i honestelly cant recomend this album to sussan fans sense this album is all laswell. itz a verry eastern album with fusion dub elementz. added musicianz areabegasu shiota-electric piano/ karsh kale- drums, tabla, programming/ zakir hussain, tabla/ aiyb dieng, chantan/ abdou mboup, percussion/ and bill laswell, bass, synthesizer. i dont really think that any of the...

3.0 out of 5 stars A lazy cashing-in on someone else's work
The only thing on this CD that makes it worthy of 3 stars is Sussan Deyhim's original material, available in its 5-star form on her "Madman of God" release. What Bill Laswell has done is seemingly indeliberately overlay his minimal electronica, adding no value--really, nothing--to the source material. Worse yet, I think he detracts from the source by imposing a...

And this also proves that the amorphos song from spiritual beauty which credits sussan on vocals and is also a remix from black lotus is not her and the actual vocals that is credited on "the carrier" from my life in the bush of ghosts from brian eno and david byrne.their are 6 albums now i have heard these vocals on eno's, orb's live album animals cover, the asian games cd, elixer hegalien zone, tassilli players outer space a cool dub album and the amorphos. this also features some of the original musicians from madman so it gives it an extra special charm and unheard of through anyother laswell project. this is for any fanz of eastern dub or fusion music with eastern flair. their are vocals singing in tongue, love poems by rumi, saadi and other persian sufi masters

The sounds on this album were so new, so gorgrously intertwined, and yet so ...hauntingly familiar. This is truly a masterpiece of Eroticism. So hot my speakers were looking nervous!

Worse yet, I think he detracts from the source by imposing a mismatched rhythm. His contribution doesn't seem to pay any regard to the more complicated Persian rhythms of Deyhim's music, so the result is a bit jarring. It's ridiculous that he could make money from this: just take someone else's wonderful music, record your own sequences of clicks and zips--chosen at random--on top of it, and call it a "reinterpretation". Everyone considering this purchase should instead track down Deyhim's original release.
