Great iPOD Car Essential,

This product is great, especially if you have a high end audio system in your car and your ipod plugs directly into the system.
The standard headphone jack on the iPod compresses the audio signal and delivers a sound that does not include the low frequencies. They do this because most headphones do not have a subwoofer or specialized speakers for different frequencies. By using the SIK adapter, you get pure, uncompressed audio that gives you the full range of the music. I have 2 JL W3 10" subwoofers in my car, and the difference between the audio quality and bass response is like light and day.

Works well, but if you are using this with a cassette adapter you'll need other item(s),

This product works really well -- however -- if you plug a cassette adapter into the SiK's headphone jack that comes with this (for car stereos, to take advantage of the Ipod USB port's superior sound) the sound will be completely distorted--far worse than if you didn't have this at all and went direct into the headphone jack. This was the case in both of our vehicles.
Per SiK's customer service, you will need an inline volume control (available at Radio Shack, etc.) if you hope to use this for this application. As SiK advertises this product as compatible with cassette adapters out of the box, I have to deduct a star. SiK probably should have included an inline volume control here so you don't have a mass of wires everywhere. SiK said some of the dolby noise reduction options might also work to reduce the distortion--but it didn't in our cars. Had to go with the volume control. Still, the difference between the output coming from the bottom jack vs. the headphone jack is incredible. Highly recommended with the inline volume control.

This worked great with my 2nd gen nano, but FYI...doesn't work with iPhone4. Probably due to apple switching from firewire to USB in the later generations of their products. Even the line out audio wouldn't work with iPhone4.

If you have an 2003 e39 M5 this is an option to hook up your Ipod at a reasonable cost. The sound is great.

The product is pretty good, it was slightly expensive, but i have enjoyed using it, its all pretty simple and neat and works well. however you do have to purchase a 3.5mm jack seperately.

Great product if your car has a input jack for mp3 players but not a dedicated Ipod input. Sound quality is much better than the headphone jack and you can charge your Ipod while driving, however you can also run off the Ipod batter if you need to charge your cell phone.

Was looking for a simple solution to connect my iPod to my new Honda CR-V with auxiliary input jack. The SIK Imp works flawlessly for this purpose and has a nice simple design. I also like the fact that it will still work to output the audio without being plugged into the cigarette lighter.

This is the ultimate in control for your iPod. Playing the iPod from the headphone jack is fine but I like this set up much better. It charges and plays your iPod with only one hookup to the iPod. Just click and play!
