This item was purchased to be a remote control for a MacBook Pro and several websites advertise it as such. Amazon even list it as a "Remote Control for Apple MacBook Pro, iPod Universal Dock, Apple TV, Front Row, iPod Hi-Fi." All attempts to pair it with my MacBook Pro failed so I went online (no instructions or help came with the remote) to see if there was any help or known issues. This is when I found web sites that state that it is incompatible with MacBook Pro. QUESTION: Why advertise that this remote works with MacBook Pro (as stated in the title of the Amazon product listing) and brag about how it fits in the Express Card/34 slot of a MacBook Pro if it is NOT compatible with MacBook Pro? The return process only list a mailing address and request that the customer contact them for return permission. OH!... and they don't cover return shipping and have 15%-20% deductions in refund for restocking.

My advise....Stay away from PDX Products and don't buy this remote control!!

This thing works pretty well. The only thing that kept it from getting the 5th star is the remote can not pair with apple computers. I guess it can pair with Apple TV but that doesn't help me. The convenience of always having the remote with the macbook pro makes up for it not being able to pair with the computer.


UPDATE: This remote died several months ago (around April 2009). I always kept it tucked into the slot on the side of the macbook pro -which tends to run hot. I guess the constant heat must have cooked the remote because even a fresh battery does not bring it back from the dead. It was OK while it lasted.
