5.0 out of 5 stars A great First Episode
It's a good videogame, but if you play it without know the background (original SiN) of the game, you will be a bite disorientated, graphics and AI's game are great, I pity that only Ritual Entertainment developed one of the episodes, in its original plan SiN Episodes were 9 of them, at the end of the game you will see the preview of the second Episode that ritual never...

2.0 out of 5 stars Sort of like Half-Life 2, but much weaker
Having finished playing Half-Life 2, I bought this game after reading positive reviews on the internet and hoping for "more of the same", to be honest.

Sin Emergence uses the same graphics engine as HL2, the action and gameplay are similar, the graphics and environments are similar, but the storyline is weak, as well as the level designs, there are to few...

The graphics are awesome. I thought I was playing Half Life 2. The game play is easy and unpredictable. I highly recommend it.

Having finished playing Half-Life 2, I bought this game after reading positive reviews on the internet and hoping for "more of the same", to be honest.

Sin Emergence uses the same graphics engine as HL2, the action and gameplay are similar, the graphics and environments are similar, but the storyline is weak, as well as the level designs, there are to few different enemies, and the characters, both friend and foe, are tasteless and unappealing.

It is probably a bit unfair to write a review strictly based on what other games have to offer, but if you are hesitating between this game and Half-Life 2, you should DEFINITELY get HL2. If you have already finished HL2 and are looking for something similar, you will be disappointed with this one.

Knowing what other FPS games are out there, I really can't see myself recommending this game to anyone.

I really can't believe how much fun was packed into this game. Considering the average length (playtime) of shooters these days, this game is a steal. Looking for a fun few weeks of fun (considering the addictive arena mode) without spending full price, this game is a great deal!

2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's a nice game outside Europe... but how do I know?, January 29, 2007

First, I have purchased this game online via STEAM, and I am a European customer (from Germany). After installation all the blood & gore was missing, dying sequences were removed (the enemies just drop dead), and one of the scripted sequences has been cut (as I found out later when looking for solutions on the net). Obviously Valve/STEAM checks where the customer lives (probably via IP address or credit card number), and once you are in Germany (for sure there are more countries like this), the game is severely crippled. Although there are no laws requiring this! Just an act of anticipatory obedience to a hysteric state agency somewhere abroad?

Let's face it: First person shooters ARE violent and surely not suitable for children - and they are NO FUN when it's just like throwing darts in the pub. You better do that in the pub.

So probably this is the last STEAM-disabled game I have ever bought. I don't see the point of forced online gaming anyway (I have no problem with online registration, but what about playing on a laptop computer?), but when I pay the same amount as others (plus German value-added tax, I don't know why) I expect the same product. Nothing more and nothing less. This is customer deception (all this happened without prior notice). I would rate it 0 stars if this would be possible.
