The focus of the book is on Opus 113 but in reviewing the history of those pieces for Masonic ceremonies, the author does a review of both Sibelius and some of his other works, particularly Finlandia Hymn which has also been used in Masonic meetings. It is interesting how the Grand Lodge of New York became holder of the copyright and the give and take between Finland, Sibelius, the Grand Lodge, and Galaxy Music. Also of note was that Sibelius once out ranked Beethoven and Ravel in popularity when Olins Downes, Walter Damrosch, Leopold Stokowski and even Hitler were promoting it. Good historical account of Opus 113 and Sibelius but would only recommend it to Masons and musicologists.
