These are incredible performances. Heifetz re-recorded Sibelius in stereo era equally successfully, but he himself could not beat these early recordings of Tchaikovsky and Glazunov. Heifetz's first recording of Tchaikovsky (he recorded twice later) is dazzling, but at the same time much more heartfelt than his later versions. Same can be said about Glazunov. They were recorded in 1930s but sound is very good for their age. Strongly recommended.

Heifetz is the technically greatest violin player of the 20th century. These pieces show this very well. He re-recorded these later, but the sound quality in this recording is surprisingly good. The Sibelius is played a bit too slowly but the other pieces have a more mainstream tempi. Barbirolli is shown to be an excellent accompanist. Flawless playing, excellent recording for the time. Very worthwhile.
