My husband surprised me, for my birthday, with this delightful cookbook from his parent's hometown, Sicily. At long last I can make the treasured recipes his mother used to cook for him when he was a child. He says the recipes are truly authentic (most have turned out just as he remembers them). Plus we both enjoy reading about the different towns in Sicily and their specialties. When my sister-in-law saw this book on my coffee table, she said she just had to have a copy too! My first thought was Amazon.Com.! Now it's my turn to surprise her with it.

I am the daughter of Sicilian immigrants and grew up with lots of interesting Sicilian cooking. I've tried recipes that you just don't find in most Italian restaurants or specialty stores. Sicily (Flavors of Italy) is filled with many of them. My mother was amazed when she read through the book. What makes the book even more valuable are the vivid pictures of recipes. Not only are the recipes easy to read and make, but you also get a good idea as to what your final product will look like. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good Sicilian cook book.
