Biography

Known also by the acronym QOTSA, Queens of the Stone Age are one of the most acclaimed and popular hard rock bands of the 21st century. They formed in the mid-90s around guitarist and singer Josh Homme, once of cult stoner-rock band Kyuss. Homme is the sole remaining founder member.

Their debut self-titled album (1998) and Rated R (2000) brought them warm reviews, and their growing fan-base was… Read more in Amazon's Queens Of The Stone Age Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Goodness, July 21, 2007
This review is from: Sick Sick Sick (Audio CD)
Yes, so.......

The, "i'm desinger," remix is along the same lines of the," no one knows unkle" remix from stone age complications. "goin' out west," is an ok tom waits cover. They really pulled off elliott smith's," Christian brothers," very well. In fact it's probably better than the original. Because i never really noticed how good that song was until the queens covered it. Get it? Got it? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Single; QOTSA strikes again, February 3, 2011

This review is from: Sick Sick Sick (Audio CD)
Personally, I think that this single is pretty good. I enjoy the different sounds and beats that almost represent a new type of music. QOTSA is a very different band and they are very unique. However, the only bad thing about the single is that it is very expensive. This single is very rare. Sick,Sick,Sick was a song on their 2007 album "Era Vulgaris," and I think of this single as a collectors item because of the value and (if you have not purchased the single) it has several compartments to fit 2 other cds. There is a note saying that you can complete the single collection by gathering the two other Vulgaris singles "3's and 7's" and "Make it Wit Chu." I don't have either of them, but they are good to have. Actually, one of the songs on the single itself I think are on one of the other QOTSA singles. Be careful when purchasing the other two; they might rip you off with the same songs! Check the songlist on each single! I suggest buying this single, if you can afford it. Just two words of advice. 1, If you love and absolutely LOVE QOTSA then go right ahead and buy it. If not, then DO NOT buy it. And 2, Listen to the songs before spending your money on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only for true fans., August 15, 2007
This review is from: Sick Sick Sick (Audio CD)
The single itself doesn't really need a comment it's a great high energy song.

The remix of I'm Designer isn't nearly as good as any of the previous remixes. The original is such a great song, and maybe this remix just doesn't change enough to differentiate it from the original.

The Tom Waits cover is very different from any of Queens previous work and might turn off new and old fans alike. After multiple listens I have started to like it but was originally pretty turned off to it.

As for the Elliott Smith song, I love Queens of the Stone Age, I love Elliott Smith, I wish Josh would have put more of his flavor on it, but at the same time I wish he would have used Elliott's signature of recording the vocal track twice.

And while I may sound pretty negative about it, I still love it and listen to it all the time, but I'm a pretty hardcore Queens fan.
