This is GREAT LIVE TV. But beware, it is a re-packaged, re-issue of the previous "Sid Caesar Fan Favorites" box set by a different distributor ASIN: B00005Q65F.

If you already have that older Out-Of-Print box set there is no need to buy this one. BUT if you missed out on that one, then this is a MUST BUY DVD set!

Even with the kinescope(?) reproduction, the quality of the collection given its early age, is quite satisfactory, and just as funny as it was when I first watched its original TV production.

This is overpriced for 23 sketches and we didn't need the coments from the 11 comedians. The space should have been used for more sketches.

I'm 63, orig fr N.Y. Now in Los Angeles. If you are a baby boomer...or not, you will laugh so hard and remember with great fondness and hilariously that you will need to repeat watching as you will miss some lines because you will be using Kleenex to wipe the tears from laughing so hard. Don't watch it too late because you might disturb your neighbors!

These shows stand up over time. I would rather had just the shows and not the commentary in between. That's just my opinion. I think I would have liked more skits.

The Sid Caeser show was one of the early sketch comedy programs and it paved the way for a lot of the movie and television comedy. Sid Caeser, a great comedian in his own right, was backed up by a talented cast who made the sketches come to life. He had a real "dream team" of writers which included Woody Allen and Mel Brooks and without them the humor wouldn't have taken off the way that it did.

The sketches in this collection are not some of the ones you normally see in Sid's collections but they are good ones nonetheless. I especially liked the parodies of films that the group did. The Mata Hari sketch is one of the best.

Your Show of Shows contained the funniest sketch comedies of all time. When will a box set be released with all of the sketches in one collection?
