This guide is what should have been included with the game as what you get with it when buying the game is just the basics, nothing more, nothing less. One needs to play this game at least a couple of times without having this Guide only to find out what this Strategy Guide is already explaining and telling the player. If one is a novice at these type of games, by reading the Strategy Guide beforehand, one can dive straight into the game knowing what is right and what is not playing it and become an instant Expert by doing so.

Further, there are tips and tricks explained in the Guide for this game which one only will get to know AFTER one plays this game several times without this Strategy Guide. Possibly after one already put the game aside of it either being too hard to play or possibly (more realistically I would say) for not knowing the full potential of game play one can get out of the game and therefore getting the full satisfaction this game deserves playing it.

I found out quite a few things about the way this game works after I had put this game away, so much I learned from reading the Strategy Guide, I started to play the game again, knowing now what I did not know beforehand. This gave me a whole new perspective of playing the game, a much more satisfying experience doing so.

I can recommend this book to anyone playing Sid Meier's Colonization, it will open up a whole new gaming experience of playing it, even for the seasoned veteran playing the game.

Sid Meier's Colonization: The Official Strategy Guide (Prima's Secrets of the Game)- copyrighted 1995 by MicroProse Software, Inc. has almost nothing to do with the "Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization" game by Firaxis. Although the same general format and story line are similar, the details are so different that the "Strategy Guide" is useless for the Firaxis game currently on the market. It is a shame because this game needs a deeper explanation for anyone over 16.
