2.0 out of 5 stars RIP Sidney, October 16, 2003
By
Greekfreak (Pusan Korea (South)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sid Sings (Audio CD)
Sorry, folks, but in their unbridled haste to flood the market with Pistols material, the powers that be unwisely elected to market "Sid Sings", which proves to be their undoing.

Buoyed by the success of Sid's covers "My Way"(Sinatra), "Something Else"(Cochrane), as well as "No One Is Innocent" (featuring Ronnie Biggs), they realized the posthumous Sid market might be hungering for more. So they got ahold of this weak, poorly recorded NY club date and voila! The solo album that never was.

Even with the late great Jerry Nolan on drums, there's nothing driving about this collection of Sid doing karaoke, and certainly nothing amusing. For completists only.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok Albumn, May 6, 2005
By
Alotta Fagina (Spook City, USA) - See all my reviews

Alright, this albumn isnt the GREATEST albumn and the sound quality somewhat sucks but still. The guy below me is just a bitchhead who loves to complain and hear his own voice. The recording my My Way is actually great. The others, not so hot. But seriously the guy below me can shoot a rifle up his ass for all I care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Sid.....we hardly knew ye., May 9, 2005
This review is from: Sid Sings (Audio CD)
Sid Vicious is the greatest Greek tradgedy rock n roll has to offer. While subjected to the harsh world, this innocent pup was fed to the wolves. But above all, Sid was a survivor. His talent speaks for itself as you listen to the haunting voice of a scared little boy dealing with all the problems of adulthood.

His version of 'My Way' should have been the closing song on the album. Seriously, what better song to end this album? With his heart on his sleeve, he sang a song that Johny Rotten wouldn't have the nerve to do. His version of Belsen is better than the Sex Pistols original too. If only he had covered 'Anarchy in the UK' as well. We are also awed by his cover of Iggy's 'I Wanna be your Dog'. It's even better than Joan Jett's version from 1989's 'Up Your Alley'.

Sid Vicious could not play bass, but he was only 21, in time he could have mastered the instrument and even recorded guitar and piano. His voice lends favor and in time would have only developed to be more and more beautiful. The world will never know of Sid's true potential. We are only left with what could have been. I can only hope that wherever Sid is, he's happy and still beating up Nancy.
