4.0 out of 5 stars Siddharta Volume III
I have the other 2 Siddharta volumes, all Buddha Bar's, (including 8...don't buy 8...it's really a tragedy!) and two Chill Out in Paris CD's. Volume III, while different than the previous volumes, is quite good. It's an additional flavor & compliment to the other volumes. Ravin has a great ear for music and blending tracks. On the first disc, cut 7, he found an...

Going nowhere but down. As an active record buyer from London, I've heard a lot of electro-Indian sounds and I must admit I know what's good, what's not. Even though this fashion is dying a bit, I still listen to old records form masters like Nitin Sawney & Talvin Singh. I was hoping to hear something new with this Siddharta Volume 3. A few years ago, DJ Ravin looked like...

4.0 out of 5 stars Siddharta Volume III, April 13, 2006
This review is from: Siddharta: Spirit of Buddha Bar 3 (Audio CD)
I have the other 2 Siddharta volumes, all Buddha Bar's, (including 8...don't buy 8...it's really a tragedy!) and two Chill Out in Paris CD's. Volume III, while different than the previous volumes, is quite good. It's an additional flavor & compliment to the other volumes. Ravin has a great ear for music and blending tracks. On the first disc, cut 7, he found an unbelievable hip, up to date rendition of "Chain of Fools". This volume is not as ethnic as the others but Ravin shows nice range in mixing volume III. And not to worry, it's not without its ethnicity. The first disc starts very smooth & hip building tempo in the end tracks. In disc two, he takes it up a notch with some nice electronic with culture & class...not the hard repetitive thump with no soul or lyrics. If you like the Buddha Bar and the previous two Siddharta's, it's likely Siddharta III will not disappoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice...but Siddharta I and II are better., March 23, 2006

Ok people, let me tell you that I pre-ordered this CD almost 3 months ago and I finally recieved it today. I have the other 2 Siddhartas, I and II and let me tell you that I had huge optimism that this 3rd compilation was going to be as good...not so. If you liked the previous Siddhartas that by the way I will rate them as a solid 5 stars ( a must have!) this new compilation is short to be there with them. It has exquisite tracks, specially the first 2 songs witch I thought are amazing. But then the CD shows its shortcomings. I would have liked much more "ethnic" music mixed with synth, electronics, etc. The CD has some music with songs in English, I would have like to hear more aboriginal dialects than anything else. Yes, if you are looking weather you should or shouldn't buy the CD I will say to you to go ahead and buy it. Siddharta III has 2 CD's inside as the other Sidds do, but as far as I am concerned the 2nd CD is not of my taste. I do enjoy very much the 1st CD of all Buddha bars and Nirvanas, but the 2nd CD, the one that is more upbeat, I simply cant hear them. Buy the CD and enjoy very good music, just dont expect to be as flawless and beautiful as the first 2 compilations. Peace!

4.0 out of 5 stars EXPECTING MORE FROM DJ RAVIN, June 10, 2007

This review is from: Siddharta: Spirit of Buddha Bar 3 (Audio CD)
This CD is good dont get me wrong, but compared to the first 2 it lacks intensity and flow. It is still nice to hear and has some exotic and sensual songs. But I highly recommend the first 2. DJ Ravin is a mixing magician he creates awesome awesome transcendental music. Im sure we will be on the look out for the next amazing CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars fake Ravin??, January 22, 2006

I respect to all criticisms, but the one made at the bottom, called - Marketing Spirituality - is in my opinion not aiming criticizing. I don't know if this person had chance to listen to the album before writing criticism for it(I doubt, since the album songs are still not available in anyplace that I know).
I had opportunity to listen to Ravin live, once. He came to one of the beach clubs of our beloved summer town, Cesme, and the audience had a great night, full of beautiful rhythms from different parts of world, india, middle east and europe, etc.
Ravin's archive is very extansive, and this i believe helps him be one of the successful djs of his genre. That party I was at in Cesme last summer was still one of my favourites among the ones I've been to so far.
I'm expecting that his third Siddharta would be at least as good as the previous two volumes. I didn't listen to the tracks of this album, therefore I wasn't going to rate the album, but since one person gives 1 out of 5 with no knowledge(I assume) I feel convinient to rate it 5 out of 5 just to higher its average, which is low now, for no reason.
The ones who did not listen to Ravin up to now, a good try might be buddha bar vol.6 and7, along with previous siddharta volumes.
Enjoy.

p.s. ravin: we're hoping to see you in Cesme again!

I must admit I know what's good, what's not. This new Siddharta: Spirit of Buddha Bar, Vol. 3 is surprisingly good. The more you listen, the more you will appreciate. I own all the Siddharta collection as well as the every Buddha Bar compilation and volume 3 is definitely one of my favorites, superseding my expectations, in my opinion the best Siddharta available yet.

A few years ago, DJ Ravin looked like he was capable of doing interesting things. The first two Siddarthas and Buddah Bar 6 comps were good. Then he seems to have disappeared, except for a very bad collaboration with Vizan on a later Buddah Bar, which I heard but thankfully never bought.

I was therefore curious to hear what Mr Ravin has been doing on his own in his recording studio for the last few years. I was very disappointed to find out that this was just another compilation, just another marketing double-CD made by someone who obviously has no more ideas. I have to say, this smells of a DJ who can't progress. Also what is really annoying, is his pretending to be spiritual. I suspect this is really about making easy money. Yes folks, I fear Ravin is a fake.

It's a pity they didn't show the artwork. It's frightening and madly ugly. DJ Ravin looks like a psychopath inside a Christmas Tree. I think it's dangerous and pretentious for DJs to start playing God.

Anyway nothing much to say about the music. The same as before except you've heard it all before. Nothing new. No surprises.

If you want to discover this kind of music, support real artists. Buy a Nitin Sawney CD.
