Fantasia, Fantasia, Fantasia, YOU HAVE ARRIVED! Regardless of what people say, how they berate you, how there is always something negative about you in the media, you continuously prove yourself and powerfully demonstrate that God is your only true JUDGE and his grace is with you, it's so obvious. Stay on the right path and he will continuously guide you despite the persecution. Now that I have given my testimony (lol)...on to the album review of the lovely Grammy-winning artist Fantasia Barrino....

Upon hearing Fantasia's latest release entitled `Side Effects of You' I wanted to generate my review immediately. As a fan of Fantasia over the span of her career thus far, which began (publicly) on American Idol (my family and I voted so many times, Fantasia's American Idol Win was historical!), I love all of her music, I feel her voice is unique, gifted, and one of the best in the industry today. Although it may go unappreciated by some at times, Fantasia's talent is absolutely awe-inspiring and she will continue to make the world believers of this very fact. Fantasia wanted to do this album in the form of a genre she defines as "Rock-Soul" and she delivers. I Pre-ordered the album from Fantasia's website and it comes with an autographed booklet, very nice deal!

Here is my track by track analysis:

1. Supernatural Love (feat. Big K.R.I.T.): This song has that old school, funk and hip-hop vibe. Lovely track that speaks of a love that's so beautiful that it seems to be SUPERNATURAL. She says in the song: "I'm A Lady, I'm A Woman, I'm A Mother, I'm A Daughter, But when I'm with you I have powers, Supernatural, The Love is Ours...Supernatural." And this is just the beginning track!

Honestly, she never left. Her music is consistently good but over-shadowed by her personal life and more famous pop stars being shoved down our throats. Fantasia has constantly put out great music but Side Effects of You is my favorite album from her so far. Fantasia is a lover and a survivor and it comes across in this album. The singing is heartfelt and and lyrics are honest. The instruments and bacground vocals on this album are great as well, something a lot of young artists don't put effort into. This album is sure to bring a lot of emotional barefoot performances and I can't wait! Update: So far my favorites are In Deep and Without Me. Love the Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder sample as well. RCA gave her free reign on this project and it worked out for her. I don't think they would've fully backed it anyway (not like a Justin Timberlake). I'm rooting for you Tasia!

The last two and a half years would have made anyone crazy - relationships, the press wanting you to fail and then and needing more press regardless, and then projects and ideas realized then shelved. Luckily Fantasia Barrino is not the kind to lay down even though she's had enough curve balls tossed at her to make the strongest woman give up, and God knows she's endured a lot.

Her new album - let's face it - shows the kind of positive power Beyonce used to have years ago, an independent, a no frills honest-to-God good album that you can play from beginning to end and you'll find a favorite track.

After listening to this album for two straight days, here are my impressions, straight and unfiltered. 13 songs at just over 45 minutes:

01. Supernatural Love (feat. Big K.R.I.T.) - Right of the bat Fantasia goes big and does her best to go hard and soft at the same time. She makes a statement early, too - don't mess with her, but if you do, you'd better know what you're getting into! The song leans a bit towards Beyonce territory, but she still strikes the right notes nevertheless. It's radio ready and it works for me.

02. Ain't All Bad - A mellow jam and once again Fantasia tells her story through her songs. It's a story of heartbreak, but there's always an upside to it. No more tears, and she's grown up and she didn't need your mess anyway...

03. If I Was a Bird - She sings about heartbreak the way a bird flies in the air. She wants to fly above it all and her sound soars in this song.

04. Girl Talk (Interlude) - Some miscellaneous chat with her "girlfriend" Kelly Rowland and playing around, and then goes right into

05. Without Me (feat.

For all those who claim to have stuck by Fantasia through good and bad times as if it were a burdensome obligation, and as if they know Fantasia personally - shut up already. True fans of Fantasia are loyal to Fantasia Barrino the artist - which is both a privilege and a blessing.

I've yet to listen to all the songs on Fantasia's new album more than two or three times; I received my copy yesterday. A test of good music is that it reveals something new and exciting every time it's heard. This is true of good art in general and it may be the best way to approach "Side Effects if You"

As in all of Fantasia's recordings, it's about the singing. She is a musician who has a relationship with her voice that is intimate, intuitive, and skillful. The songs are almost secondary. But then I may be the only fan who can't decide if he prefers "I Nominate You" to the unreleased "Broke." On this album, I'm feeling the title track, "Side Effects of You," " In Deep," and what I understand will be the next single "Without Me." They're all densely layered and full of unexpected details. The album is like a new book in which I want to lose myself. Harmony is a good producer and has served Fantasia well.

Spare me the news of Fantasia's love-life. My impression is that Fantasia owns up to whatever she does. This album asks only that we listen, explore, and enjoy the gift of her talent - which she shares generously.
