5.0 out of 5 stars Good Guitar -- Good Memories
These old gospel tunes like "Fly Away" or "Some Fine Morning" remind me of music that I spent a lot of time with growing up; good memories. All the tunes on here have that "homegrown" sound that's missing from so many CDs nowadays -- especially gospel discs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Samey as hell
Lots of talent here. Lots of talent going to waste. Samey as hell. Flirts with a really interesting acoustic slide guitar version of "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore" for 46 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Slide, February 10, 2007

Sidewalk Saints is the Sunday morning side of the slide guitar. If you like country blues, you'll like Ben King's guitar work. This is real roots music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing!, November 1, 2006
This review is from: Sidewalk Saints (Audio CD)
Refreshing! The instrument itself is unique to hear as well as it being an instrumental album. Usually when someone covers a tune, they perform it as is, with their own ego stamped on it. If you are going to cover someone else's classic, re-arrange it! Now you have something to offer us, a new rendition not just a cover. This is a great way to pay respect and have some fun. This is exactly what we have here with Sidewalk Saints! I don't even recognize some of these standards and that's a credit to Ben Bowen King's music. Wasn't this guy Mexican. Well now he's B.B. King.
