5.0 out of 5 stars Visually Stunning Production
This is a wonderful production showcasing the most successful magic team in history. I liked the 3D viewing option. Watch it first in regular view mode, then on the second viewing select the 3D option and put on the glasses (4-pairs per set). It's mind-blowing!!

1.0 out of 5 stars It is not a magic show
If you were like me, expecting to see a magic show, this DVD is not the one. This is a re-created story of two boys, with couple minutes of the las vegas show footage. I should have read the description carefully before purchasing this DVD.

Simply, excellent DVD. The story about these two worldwide known magicians is wonderfiul. Their performances on stage are unforgetable. Don't miss this CD. I recommend it as a good souvenir of that show that was seen in Las Vegas during a long time because, perhaps, we will have no more opportunity to see them in such spectacle. Sigfried and Roy are the masters of the illusion (SARMOTI). It would be so interesting to have more DVD's about their magic shows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous!, September 12, 2009

If you are in to magic and or have children that love amazement this is a must see. S&R are truly one of the most unique acts to ever hit the stage. This highly educational, biographical yet totally entertaining DVD finds it's appeal in the fantastic way in which the producers bring you in to S&R's rags to riches world; how they grew up, and transcended a post WW II childhood filled with despair and seeming hopelessness to truly phenominal entertainment success combing magic, exotic animals and thier "one-of a kind" expert showmanship. The DVD blend all this beautifully with actual footage of their act and how though belief in themselves that made them "Magicians of the Century". Narrated by Anthony Hopkins, it's a truly wonderful, accurate portrayal of what the art and science of performing magic is really all about, and more importantly how to believe in yourself; how S&R made each and every one of their audiences feel truly involved in their wold of making the impossible believeable, even just for a couple of hours.

How these two men brought wonder to so many millions of people over a thirty year reign as the best performers in Las Vegas is still one of the most amazing phenomenons in Las Vegas and performance history.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is true magic, April 27, 2009
This review is from: Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Box (DVD)
If you really enjoy true magic and if you watching two superb magic men then this is a must. I saw them in Las Vegas at the Mirage hotel and I was about 15 feet from the stage and that would be the only way the view would be better. The production on the video is really good. Now that they are gone this video would bew great to have so you could truly see their great magic.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE MAGIC BOX, August 19, 2000
I thought that this video was wonderfully done. The effects and all around feel of the movie were pretty good. The story was basically that of Siegfreid and Roy, thier life and accomplishments. Anthony Hopkins' voice was perfect for narration. The storyline dragged a bit in the beginning, and became somewhat repetitive near the end, but all in all it was a good video.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Magic Box, January 4, 2002

The IMAX movie "The Magic Box" is a propelling story of how Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn the famous Las Vegas Magicians started off in life and how they wound up where they are today.

It details their lives starting off in war torn Germany. Each of their family lives were severely impacted by the war. Each of them finding something they loved very much. For Siegfried it was magic and for Roy it was his love of animals. Their lives being troubled at home each left home at a young age to fulfill his own dreams and destiny. How each of their dreams and destiny crossed paths and intertwined to create who and what we have come to know and love as "Siegfried and Roy"

The movie is a very accurate portrayal of their life story. The Imax 3-D is visually stunning.
The movie is more about the evolution of these two fantastic people and not a magic show for you to sit and watch. I have heard many reviews of what people expected- they thought they would be basically watching their show on IMAX 3-D. That is not what this movie is. Although they do show plenty from their show.

I highly recommend the movie. It would be great to see BEFORE you went and saw them live in Las Vegas. You would have a deeper appreciation about how far these men have come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Siegfried and Roy-The Magic Box, June 28, 2001
The Magic Box is the compelling story of the plight of Siegfried and Roy, and under the narration of Sir Anthony Hopkins and Bert Leonard, is perhaps one of the more touching films in IMAX Entertainment. Siegfried and Roy are the two main characters who propells us on an emotional and spiritual journey of life, hope, and hardship. With graphic visual effects and an all-star cast, the movie is surely to have a lasting affect on generations to come.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm.... nah., March 12, 2007
It has gorgeous graphics. It's touching at times. The screenplay is enjoyable to watch... again, at times.

But in the end, my prevailing impression of it was one of "Sakes alive, those men are VAIN." Because, the amount of self-worship the movie involved had me simultaneously laughing and groaning through the whole thing. It approaches creepy.
For example, in the end when the young boys witness Siegfried and Roy standing before them, shining in full show regalia while gazing outward as though basking in their own inner glory. Or when the movie demonstrates clips from their own show, which are obviously staged especially for the film itself. The angle by which the camera approaches the two men seems to purposefully make them appear more grandiose and mystical.
In conclusion, it was boring. If it weren't only 40 minutes long, I would have turned it off long before its ending. It was half illustrated history book and half PETA rebuttal, with teeny tidbits of staged show tricks peppered throughout.
It would have been more fun to watch if only it had to do with the actual show, not just the two men themselves.
