Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Siemens 240 is a single-line, single-user phone that operates on the 2.4 GHz band. It offers clearer cordless transmission without static or interference from other cordless phones operating at crowded lower frequencies. Digital spread spectrum technology provides optimum security from eavesdropping by "hopping" frequencies more than 100 times every second.

Convenience features of the Siemens 240 include 10 programmable speed-dial numbers, a choice of four ring tones, base-to-handset paging, ringer and receiver volume controls, two-way charging positions, and an out-of-range alert. An internal antenna protects this phone against accidental damage. The Siemens 240 comes with a lightweight cordless handset, a base with a built-in charger, a battery pack, a user's manual, and a belt clip. Siemens offers a one-year warranty on this phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, February 16, 2001
By A Customer
No wonder this phone is currently on sale with an additional rebate. This is probably the only way it will sell. The sound quality is terrible. I hear an echo and people I call say I sound like I am in a tunnel. Also, it cuts in and out like a cell phone that is loosing reception no matter how close to the base I am. I am sending my phone back to try something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value Cordless, November 7, 2000

This review is from: Siemens 240 2.4 GHz Black Cordless Phone (Office Product)
This phone is a great idea from Siemens. For those who do not need the extra features of the other Siemens cordless phones but want the same essential 2.4 GHz range & technology this phone is awsome. The first phone I received was defective. I received a very prompt exchange for a new phone...at the recommendation of Siemens helpful tech support. The service after the sale is there if you need it. If you can live without built in caller-ID & LCD display, answering machine, 500 extra buttons and the need to add extra handsets to the same base buy this phone. I was pleased to learn Siemens builds this phone in the United States. Wonderful minimalist phone with solid technology.

2.0 out of 5 stars So expensive, so little.. also: Wireless Networking Problems, February 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Siemens 240 2.4 GHz Black Cordless Phone (Office Product)
What a nice phone, I thought, when I opened the box and plugged the phone in. It's after the first call that I start noticing serious problems. There were sometimes popping noises and just an annoying general background noise, in addition to echos and feedbacks from the mic. I could not believe it until I switched to a corded phone, by that all problems were solved. Very disappointing for a 2.4GHz. It was probably due to interference with my home's wireless networking, which seemed to suffer when the phone was in use (disconnections/weakened signals). The battery life was surprisingly short. I think I only placed the handset off the cradle for about 2 days on standby before the battery went kaput. That was quite a problem, as anyone with a dead cordless phone would know. Phone felt functional and had IMHO excellent industrial design. I love the modern and distinctive ringtones! Build quality suffered on my phone, with deep cuts (no idea how that came about) and uneven plastic edge fitting. I really wished they made the phone better. At the prices..., it could have been a champ.
