Incorporating rhythms from around the world, including influences all the way from hip-hop to dance to everything he has accomplished with rock music, Gustavo Cerati really showed the world what he can do.
This story will prove what I mean: me and a couple of friends of mine where traveling around Panama (my native land) to show an American friend of mine what our country had to offer. At one of the spots we visited, an exotic beach spot in Bocas del Toro, we decided to bring 'Siempre es Hoy' to a bar to see if the DJ would play it for us. After several hours of bothering the DJ, he finally agreed to play the album. As soon as the first song started, everybody in the dance floor started to move to this music that I am willing to bet most or everybody had not heard before, since this album was just released. To our misfortune, the cd was somewhat scratched, so we only got to play a few songs, but everyone in there was able to notice how Cerati injected his magic into the environment. It was so good, that when the DJ changed the CD since he had had enough of the songs skipping people started boo-ing and begging for more. You could argue that us Panamanians in the bar where fans of Cerati and where prone to enjoy his music; however, there were several American and European tourists that certainly enjoyed dancing to Cerati's brilliant music.
This only shows one of the qualities of 'Siempre es Hoy', as this is an album that you can sit down and listen to over and over appreciating the genius behind every detail.
It is no coincidence that Cerati received the 'Artist Trajectory' award alongside the legendary Argentinian rock band SODA STEREO at the MTV Latin Awards.

Cerati surprises once again proper and strangers with this new album. `Siempre es hoy' comes as a very pleasant surprise and as an excellent follow up to `Bocanada', showing a perfect continuation in his style but also a more mature and creative musician. The combination of rhythms and styles in this albums go from electronic music to the roots of south American music (as he does in Sulky)

It is very difficult for me to say this is his best album, it is indeed a great CD filled with songs that you will fall in love with from the very first time you listen to it, but each one of his albums is different from one another. The simplicity in `Amor amarillo', the experimental orchestra from `Bocanada', the new concepts from `Colores santos'... like stated before, listen to his discography and you will see the evolution I referred to.

From the first chords of the album, `Siempre es hoy' sets the table for an absolutely fabulous list of songs, the electronic music mixed perfectly with his guitar riffs will be present in great part of the album. The almost auto biographical `Naci para esto' tells us about the idea Gustavo has about himself and his decision of life, he was born for this. `Amo dejarte asi' delivers one of the best pieces of the album, the bass and the drums in this song are just unbelievable, the lyrics and Cerati's vocals complement this song making it a must for fans. `Karaoke' and `Casa' show his live for the electronic music, not only because of the rhythms but for the lyrics as well. Charly Garcia does an special appearance as guest in two songs, `Torre de marfil' and `Vivo', even though we would have liked to hear a duet, Charly amazes with his guitar performing side by side with Gustavo.

Like someone pointed out before, this is a very colorful album, hard to define due to the wide variety of rhythms present on it but quite enjoyable from beginning to end. An obligatory piece to listen to if you consider yourself a true music fan.
