Product Description

We challenge traditional thinking by incorporating partial Flex construction into these bags, making them more comfortable and more thermally efficient. Ergonomically shaped foot boxes and ultralight foot box venting may seem like subtle details, until you climb on in – and experience the most comfortable sleep you’ve ever had in the backcountry.

I bought a Nitro 30 long (I'm 6'1" and hate cramped feet) for $200 before a month-long road trip in 2012. I sleep warm and love to have my feet outside of the covers, so the footbox zipper is great. After testing the bag out, I recommended it to my brother and he bought one as well.

Uses: We slept in these bags for a month straight during several backcountry trips, in every environment that you can find along the continental divide from the desert and high Chisos in Big Bend, Texas (mostly sleeping on top of the sleeping bag), to high camp over 12,000 feet in the Rockies, to temps in the 20s and howling winds up in Glacier NP. Back in the Southeast I've spent both dry and rainy nights in this bag, mostly on overnight backpacking trips. I carry the sleeping bag in a compression dry sack (which I highly recommend), so it hasn't gotten completely soaked, but on rainy nights when the bag got wet it dried pretty quickly.

Pros: The bag is lightweight and packs down very well. I like to hike long distances and climb a lot and hate to have bulky things in my backpack. I haven't owned many sleeping bags, but of the ones I've used, this one is great for backpacking. As stated above, the footbox zipper is awesome. I can't even say how much more comfortably it helped me sleep on the trail. The bag is warm - I put a liner in it and sleep in my boxers down to the 40s. Closer to freezing I use a base layer and it's very comfortable.

Cons: The bag stretches a little, but can feel a bit tight around the upper body. I don't like being constricted and prefer to sleep without anything around me if possible. Not the stretchiest bag, but perhaps I am more sensitive in this regard than others might be.
