Product Description

The Meteor Light has won awards over the years since its first appearance in the early '80s, the most recent being Backpacker's "Editors' Choice Gold." A double-track vestibule converts to an awning, while two poles with a Spider Hub guarantee a fast and easy pitch with weight savings. A SuperSeal Floor and an Adjustable Venting Rainfly deter inclement weather. The Meteor Light has been a standard bearer going on three decades.

One of the most copied tents in history, the Meteor Light was the only shelter ever to win the Backpacker "Editor's Choice Gold" award way back in 2001. The tent--which has been a mainstay in the Sierra line for two decades--is widely recognized for its utilitarian function and design, with precise details that far exceed the average tent. For example, the pole sleeves start high on the Meteor Light, meaning you can stake out the tent first and then slot the poles. The next time you build camp in a windstorm, you'll be thankful that Sierra thought ahead. The Meteor Light's also great for tall customers, with a peak height of 43 inches and a sturdy three-pole design. Efficient, economical, and comfortable, the Meteor Light is still one of Sierra's most reliable tents. This version of the Meteor Light sleeps two comfortably.

The Meteor Light 2 is efficient and comfortable.
Features:
  • CAD design: Computer-Aided Design techniques help Sierra make technically superior tents with uniform stress distribution.
  • Color-coded webbing: The color-coded webbing guides the pole placement for a quick, easy setup. Made of durable, lightweight nylon, the webbing also assists with quick rainfly setup.
  • DAC Featherlite SL poles: These thick-diameter, thin-walled poles offer more strength and less weight than many other poles, with the best strength-to-weight ratio of any pole available today. The pole?s unique joining insert, meanwhile, allows for a cleaner, smoother transition in Reverse Combi Technology (RCT).
  • Double-track vestibule:Offering zippers on both sides of the vestibule opening, Sierra's double-track vestibule includes a left or right door opening and supports a separate awning.
  • Dye-free optic white canopy: The canopy transmits light more effectively to produce a brighter, more pleasant environment when spending long hours inside the tent. Sierra Designs produces the optic white canopy without using chemical dyes.
  • Fast Pack Footprint compatible: Fast Pack Footprints can greatly increase the life of your tent's floor, protecting your investment from dirt, gravel, and sharp objects. Fast Pack Footprints can also serve as an ultralight shelter in conjunction with your rainfly and poles. On average, the Fast Pack Footprint accounts for a weight savings of 30 percent, making it yet another tool in your fast packing arsenal.
  • Locking pole tips: A Sierra Designs innovation, these pole tips stay locked in the grommet for a faster, easier setup.
  • PVC-free tape: The tent's factory seam-sealed floors do not employ PVC tape, lessening the tent's environmental impact.
  • Stash door: This door easily stashes into an internal pocket to stay clean, dry, and accessible.
  • SuperSeal floor: Combining the benefits of catenary and bathtub floors, the SuperSeal floor offers a raised, taped perimeter seam that?s guaranteed waterproof. The floor also maintains a tighter pitch with a better wind line to prevent flapping.
  • Swift Clips: This Sierra innovation allows campers to stake the tent before attaching the body to the pole structure.
  • Tent Guard with Ultra Fresh: Applied as part of the PU coating on Sierra?s rain flies, floors, and footprints, Tent Guard extends the life of a tent by thwarting mold, mildew, and fungus. The Tent Guard is particularly valuable on extended trips or in damp climates, as it protects a tent if it?s packed or stored temporarily while wet.

This ia a great tent! It sets up with little or no trouble and is no problem for one person to do. It is spacious and airy. I have never gotten any condensation and have used in wet conditions. I love the Sierra Designs' products and would recommend this 2-person tent.

We have put up this tent in every weather conditions imaginable - dry, rocky, windy, snowy (no more than an inch), muddy, sunny, etc. and this tent stood up very strongly! Its very well manufactured - no cheap parts. The poles are extremely strong. They were able to withstand 50 mph gust in Death Valley, CA! The condensation is not an issue if you leave the vents open and the condensation dries off quickly anyway if some happens to develop. The two of us, our dog and our gear comfortably fit inside the tent. One person can easily put up/take down the tent since its mostly just snapping on the poles to the tent. The whole thing weighs about 5 lbs. My only dissatisfaction comes from the fact that my tent didn't come with a footprint.
