The Snow and Sand Stake allows the tent to be pitched in the snow or sand where traditional stakes don't work. Fill these handy lightweight but durable sacks with snow, sand or rocks and know that your tent will stay put.

The only thing I can add to the other reviews is that there are four individual "stakes" or bags in one pack. This did not seem clear in the amazon description. They work well and look like they will last.

We used these on a camping trip at Assateague Island last year. Lucky we had them, because there was a storm that weekend. There were flash floods the day we left. We used these bags to hold down a picnic shelter tent. They worked great and were easy to use. The only issue we had was in digging them out. One of us (surely not me!) hit one of the bags with the shovel and tore the bag. I was able to stitch it up when we got home. I think it will be fine for our next trip.

Good So Far - Work in Strong Winds,

I was camping at the beach in Maryland in mid October and had to set up the tent in some very strong winds. I used a combination of these and some aluminum cross stakes and have to say that these performed pretty well. Once I had them filled I dug a small hole to keep them in place and they held the tent well through 30+ mph winds. The long straps are a bit awkward as they put the bags out far enough to trip over, but it was easy enough to just roll them under the bag to bring it closer to the tent. All in all I was glad I had these and will definitely use them again.
