3.0 out of 5 stars Informative and interesting but not at all what I expected, January 27, 2012

This review is from: Sierra Leone: Diamonds and the Struggle for Democracy (International Peace Academy Occasional Paper Series) (Paperback)
This book was very different from what I expected it to be. It's written by someone who was working there as (I think) an observer for the International Peace Academy (?) That being said, it's not some ultra liberal hippy crap either. It reads more like someones notes or a school paper. It's written in a very observant manner with little to no opinion. No filler or fluff. Just the facts. Which I like but it seemed more like I was reading something for school rather than a description of the scene on the ground from someone who was in the middle of a warzone. It IS interesting and very informative but about as exciting as you would expect a NGO observation of an African war to be. If you're looking for a travel book or something like say, Blackhawk Down, you won't get that here.
