Sierra Sound IN STUDIO - AWESOME sound,
By
This review is from: Sierra Sound IN Studio 5.0 Ins5B iPod Speaker Dock (Black) (Electronics)
I ordered the IN Studio 5.0 Ins5B iPod Speaker Dock (Black) via their website after reading a review in a MAC Magazine. I usually do not buy without hearing audio equipment first, since speakers are a personal experience. I needed portable speakers for my iPOD in my guitar studio.
I was pleasantly surprised after I installed the speakers, which was very easy to do. The sound is rich and full. The remote makes it easy to move through the ipod from a remote location. Everything needed comes with the speakers - making it a quick and easy install out of the box! The sound was better than I expected, I have tried various configurations with the levels and with the EQ on the iPod to get the desired sound via the GENRE of the songs. Again - easy to do. Check out their web site - they thought of everything. For the size and convenience of these speakers, and the associated cost, you get excellent sound quality. I like to play my iPod with this much clarity. I like to play/charge my iPod in a way that rivals much larger and more expensive systems, and at the same time have the wireless feature of Airport Express and iTunes at my fingertips. If you're looking for speakers to play your iPod through, if you want quality, flexibility, and something that sounds really good, and is built like a tank while looking beautiful, look no further. Sierra Sound's iN Studio 5.0 won't disappoint you. The ultimate test for me was SIDE 2 of ABBEY ROAD - these speakers handled it very well! Oh and the folks at Sierra Sound are friendly and accessable via their web site! I have recommended these speakers to all my muscian friends! Enjoy!

Compared to any 'ipod dock' ... there is no comparison.
These are not portable like 'pick up and walk around room to room' but how often do you really do that anyway? This is real sound. Base that can make dance and reggae move your insides. They really do look good and with an airport express plugged in the back you can send your whole laptop music to it accross your home wireless network. What more do you want? Dont put up with tin pot sounds from these other all in one boxes. The sound is a world apart.

Sierra Sound Machine,

Excellent sound reproduction for the price. We use it with our IPOD and XM radio in our pool (billiard) room. Easily fills the room with blues/rock 'n roll/jazz/classical/acoustic.
Easily portable.....essentially two boxes and a speaker wire. All cables and acessories included. Good match for the fit and finish of an IPOD. Only very minor complaint is that base is a little muddy similar to a Bose speaker. I would definitely buy this product again.

No customer service for system failure,
This review is from: Sierra Sound IN Studio 5.0 Ins5R iPod Speaker Dock (Red) (Electronics)
After several weeks of enjoying the speakers, we encountered a loud buzzing and no IPOD playback on the speakers. We were promised a new set (is there a 3 year warranty?) by the head of the company. Nothing, nada..
Phone calls not answered and emails ignored. Two more emails with promises to ship new speakers. Nothing, nothing, nothing. I am so disappointed and angry. Don't buy these, spend a little more money and deal with Bose.

I received these speakers recently..they sound pretty good, but the remote did not work properly..I have 120 gig ipod which is not listed as a supported device, but the remote would not even deal correctly with the volume of the speakers or any other function..I sent an email to the company...no reply....I called their telephone number 3 times....no answer...if you want any support it does not appear to exist...are they out of business??

I purchased this item after reading positive reviews on here and also from friends who own these bookshelf speakers. These speakers produce great sound even at low and high volume levels. However there are two drawbacks.
1) The volume control seems to reset itself everytime it turns off, so when you put it back on again it is louder than you had it previously on. 2) If you're living in an apartment like me, because you can't adjust the base, even at low volume levels it has a tendency to annoy the neighbors. That being said, I would not trade these in and would definately buy again.

Simply put, these speakers are incredible. When I first saw them for $200 (they are $250 now, but still VERY worth it), I honestly wasn't expecting all that much. Also, this is coming from an audiophile. I couldn't believe when I put these speakers near max volume and they were rocking an entire hallway with extremely good sound quality. The louder you make them, the more impressive they are.
I mainly use these speakers with my computer to play music. Even though they have an iPod dock, I find I like the sound a little better when the computer is driving the speakers, probably because the sound is preamped rather than relying entirely on the speakers internal amps. But even just putting an iPod into the dock and playing it sounds great. I only found two negatives with these speakers. First, like other reviewers have stated, the "auto" power on isn't that reliable, and I don't use it. It's really not that hard to just turn them on and off when need be. The only other problem I had was the battery that came with the remote was bad and it was working on and off in the beginning, but upon buying a new battery and replacing it, the remote worked perfectly. In conclusion, you can't go wrong with these speakers. I have a pair of $500 Shure 530's, and these speakers are just as fun to listen to music on as the headphones. Also, my mom has a $180 CD player, and the sound quality is tremendously inferior to these speakers, just showing how good of value they really are.

Just nabbed a pair of these for $200 and this is pretty much a steal. These are heavy, well built speakers and do what they are advertised to do. My only complaints are: (1) the auto-sensing turn on/off feature does not always work; (2)these are a bit heavy on the bass and sound best at higher volumes where the treble comes more into balance, i.e., they function more as a full room stereo and do not work real well as computer or desk speakers played at low volume; (3) because of #2, I wish there was a way to adjust the bass, but there isn't. Overall, however, a great deal.

These speakers have a clean and natural sound, which I think is a deal for $250. The speakers sound good at lower volumes, and sound even clearer at louder volumes. These speakers (and the included amp and DAC) sound better than my $400 home theater.
The bass is a little strong for me, and it would be nice to nave a why to turn it down a little. It would also be nice if the iPod port also charged the iPod.

Short and sweet - absolutely phenomenal sound and looks. Build quality is AAA+. These speakers could easily sell for twice as much and still be a bargain. One of the best values in high quality audio today.
