5.0 out of 5 stars Great taste, easily dented
We have five Sig water bottles- two .6 liter bottles for the kids, two liter bottles for the adults, and one .75 sport bottle. I love mine- I use the screw on cap and the "bottle cat" to keep it attached to the bottle, because I prefer to take big gulps, everyone else uses the sport style caps. The three large bottles all have the sport touch finish, which is a nice matte...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not particularly durable
We have 4 Siggs- 2 adult and 2 kids. They really do protect the taste of your water- nothing like drinking out of a nalgene bottle. However, all of ours have dented severely after just a few days of pretty light use. We haven't even used them hiking yet. I can't see these bottles lasting more than a few seasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great taste, easily dented, November 8, 2007
This review is from: Sigg Big Kids Water Bottle (0.6-Liters) (Misc.)
The three large bottles all have the sport touch finish, which is a nice matte texture.

The larger bottles (that the adults use) are in great condition- no dents, and only a couple of scratches on the one I take to work. The kid's bottles, however, look like they were hit by a car from Death Race 2000. The finish is still mostly intact, with only a few scratches on each, but they are dented like crazy. One particularly large dent happened from a fall from the fridge onto ceramic tile- so even if you don't go hiking these may end up with some battle scars.

Despite dents and dings, the girls (7 and 9) really like their bottles. The designs are unique and pretty, and the mud caps match the colors of the bottle. Even if we have to replace them in a year for aesthetic reasons, the cost savings far outweigh buying bottled water, they look nicer, and the kids can easily tell which bottle belongs to them.

Brand new, these bottles do have a weird taste- wash them thoroughly with the hottest, soapiest water possible several times, and the taste will be gone for good.

The bottles are also good for travel- you can take empty containers through airport security, but before sending it through the x-ray take it out of your carry on bag so they can see what it is, and take the cap off so they know it's empty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great item except ...Sport cap and denting issues, December 22, 2007
This review is from: Sigg Big Kids Water Bottle (0.6-Liters) (Misc.)
These Sigg bottles are great when you compare them to Nalgenes as long as the points you focus on are imagery and taste of the water. From a usability standpoint, they're harder to clean with the narrow mouth, and the sport cap has it's flaws. There is too much fiddling with the cap before and after drinking for a child to make sure it remains leakproof and clean. And they dent up if you look at them sideways-- Not compromising structural integrity at all, but now they look rather... well, dented! The larger, adult sized ones, seem more dent resistant.

Also don't put hot drinks in -- Not gonna keep anything inside warm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good price, good product, January 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for a Christmas present. Came on time, reasonable shipping charges, and was in good condition upon arrival. They wrapped it in bubble wrap to keep it from getting banged around/scratched. I would use the vendor again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sigg Water Bottle, December 3, 2007
Excellent product and perfect for keeping on my desk at work! No spills or lids to lose! Not to mention, using this water bottle helps our environment by keeping all the excess plastic bottles from waste! I keep a bottle at home and at work, and have also purchased one as a gift! Fantastic!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for older kids., November 12, 2007
This review is from: Sigg Big Kids Water Bottle (0.6-Liters) (Misc.)
I agree with some of the other reviews. I bought this bottle because I was concerned about my kids drinking from plastic all the time. Pros: it's not plastic and it holds plenty of water for my 3-year-old. Cons: it's expensive, it dents easily, and if my 1-year-old gets his hands on it, the bottle's contents will be all over the floor. I see that they have a Sigg bottle for babies, but I would not recommend giving this bottle to a baby, since it has no valve or anything to keep water from freely flowing out of it.

Because of the price, we only use our Sigg bottles at the house, and still take the plastic ones with us when we go out. I'd rather lose one that costs $3 than a bottle that costs almost $20!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Water Bottle, February 18, 2008
*****
This is an upscale designer water bottle, top of the line, and so much fun. The designs Of Sigg's water bottles are gorgeous, from the plain, solid color bottles, to the ones with intricate designs. They are simply beautiful! These bottles are the latest 2007 "Nature's Bouquet" designs!

I switched from regular plastic water bottles because of health concerns, thinking it would take more work to maintain. These do necessitate regular cleaning (I clean mine every day), but having something so beautiful to drink from makes the cleaning fun. Sort of like my rings, glasses, and watch, I now consider my Sigg personal water bottle a vital accessory, reminding me to drink more water, making a statement about my values, and expressing myself with a special design. Yes, all in a water bottle!

Sigg of Switzerland water bottles are very high quality, made of light aluminum on the outside, slightly insulated, and covered with a special powder coat on the inside that prevents any leaching whatsoever, unlike plastic and polycarbonate water bottles. They are light, durable, and perfect for any activity. Well water tastes spectacular in these bottles, just like from the tap.

Sigg bottles come with several different types of tops. I bought the screw top because I don't like sports tops, and I don't mind unscrewing the top when I want a drink. It is totally leakproof, which is important to me. The top is pretty and can be hooked onto a carabiner. I get comments on it all the time, "What's that? I love it!" The sports top version is ok; I just am not a fan, as I don't feel like I can get enough water from the little stream from the sports top. However, for convenience, you might prefer it. For children, there is a cap-type top. All are leak-proof. If you are ever unsatisfied with the top, you can buy a screw top separately to fit your Sigg bottle.

Sigg makes their personal water bottle in .6L and 1L in this style. I have both. I use the .6L for sports activities because they are smaller. When I won't have to carry the container, I like the larger bottle. Sigg also makes a smaller .3L bottle for children that is a perfect size for young people. You can buy Siggs in alternative sizes too, such as .75L, .4L (for kids), .6L, .5L. You can occasionally find this bottle in the 1.5L size, also. Search Amazon for the perfect size.

Pick a style and pattern you like, as this bottle is a personal accessory, and should reflect your style. The colors are vibrant and even prettier than they seem in the pictures on Amazon.

They are expensive, but they are so durable that you can plan on them lasting many years. I consider them both an accessory and an investment in my health, so they are well worth it value-wise for me.

Highly recommended.

Water out of these bottles tastes great! I've got a purple SIGG bottle that I've had over 10 yrs and I absolutely love it and get comments all the time (mostly due to its bedraggled appearance as its definitely dented and banged up - but I've used it almost every single day since I bought it). It is 100% better than any plastic bottles! In fact, I'm so enamored of SIGG bottles that I just purchased 6 bottles to give for gifts plus a larger bottle to replace another beloved bottle that I lost earlier this year.
