I rarely write reviews on Amazon but I think this album needs a higher overall rating. Personally I had no trouble hearing John Patitucci's excellent playing. I've listened to the album on four different sound systems and the whole mix sounds great on all of them. My two musician room mates (one whose a jazz bassist) agree with me. Adam is definitely one of the best jazz guitarists out there. This has been a great year for him. Besides this excellent album he's made fantastic contributions to Chris Potter's "Ultrahang" and James Carter's "Heaven on Earth". Definitely an album worth checking out. Don't miss it!

I really dig adam rogers' recorded legacy thus far. and the playing, tunes and the arrangements on this album are all top notch. however, that being said, the bass is mixed so low on this recording that a lot of the time i find myself struggling to hear exactly what patitucci's playing and getting distracted in the overall listening because i can't hear him. this sounds more like a duet with clarence penn and suggestions of a bass player in the background. which is a shame because the tunes are so rythmically hip that if the bass was audible i probabbly wouldn't be able to put this album down...oddly enough though if there were no bass at all it wouldn't be missed that much because of rogers' virtuosity. i guess it's the uncommitted presence that's annoying me here... and i've listened to it on 7 different sets of speakers from high to low quality including studio monitors and headphones with similar results. bah!

It's psychedelic, and for a guy who does no drugs including alcohol, it's just good music. Rogers sometimes strums two strings at a time and the sound makes me feel like I'm in Heaven, real psychedelic sounding. I like the way he goes up and down the strings real quick with individual picking. I'm from the 70's psychedelic years of underground radio, and this one is good copy from then. I've had playback problems with certain cuts in my pickup, and I have what is probably the best manufacturer's built-in car stereo available for sound reproduction. The cuts start to sound choppy and click sounding, and one cut goes completely off. Then I have to Seek to next cut. I've looked at condition of disc and see no scatches, and have cleaned it with microfiber cloth. Not being able to hear all of it bums me out for those cuts, and there's only about two of them. As soon as Rogers gets into jamming on some cuts, playback goes bust. I think the cuts are on songs 5 thru 7, approximately. I guess I need to buy new one, and I see here where it's out of stock, with one used one starting at 23 bucks. That's alot. Used should go for 4 to 5 bucks on the average.
