Sometimes chemistry is a matter of life and death. . . .

Though her confidence is badly shaken by a training accident, A. J. Cooper vows to become an excellent T-FLAC operative. She is everything the antiterrorist agency looks for—she’s smart, resourceful, and a crack shot. Eager to prove herself to her instructor, the highly regarded Kane Wright, A. J. takes on a difficult and potentially deadly assignment. A success in the field could be just the thing she needs to make her career with the agency—and working so closely with the extraordinary and irresistibly sexy Kane is a fantasy come to life.

Kane Wright is a master of disguise, hiding his powerful attraction for A. J. in the name of professionalism. But when she doesn’t bounce back quickly after her accident, Kane’s desire becomes concern. In the field, even a moment’s hesitation can turn a routine operation into a deadly one. With A. J. taking a lead position in this mission, Kane knows he won’t be able to take his eyes off his gorgeous tomboy trainee. Under the hot desert sun, even as they struggle to unravel a madman’s devious plot, their long denied passion will finally boil over. . . .

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Sex and suspense spice up the newest entry in Adair's Wright brothers series (In Too Deep, etc.), which focuses on T-FLAC legend Kane Wright and gorgeous rookie sharpshooter A.J. Cooper, who Kane reluctantly agrees to take on his latest assignment. The action unfolds in Egypt, where the notorious terrorist Raazaq has set up camp. When A.J. freezes in the midst of the operation, Kane vows to ship her home and finish the job himself. Unfortunately, Kane's superiors have other plans. With A.J. posing as a model and Wright as a photographer, they try to lure Raazaq into the open. But just as their plan looks like it's going to succeed, they discover that Raazaq has obtained deadly chemical agents and is one of the few people who knows where the bioweapons are hidden. Now they must race to find them before Raazaq achieves his goal of world domination. The plot races to its far-fetched finale; even the sex scenes, which occur in unconventional places like an elevator and atop a camel, are swift. Although A.J.'s quick temper and childish defiance may grate on readers' nerves, this larger-than-life adventure is sure to satisfy those who appreciate high stakes and heavy drama.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not Great.., November 24, 2003
This was the second book by Cherry Adair that i have read--the first being Kiss and Tell and for some reason, this book was a little disappointing.

Out of Sight tells the story of AJ- a female sniper in an anti terrorism unit. Due to a training mishap, she has lost her edge and makes a mistake on her first assignment. Her partner is Kane- a legend in the anti terrorism unit. Together, AJ and Kane are after a terrorist who has stolen a virus and intends on releasing it.

They follow the terrorist over the desert to his hiding place to stop his plans. On the way, the battle his henchmen, their feelings, the desert environment etc.

In premise, this book sounds like it should be great, but AJ was a little one dimensional and the book was off. I liked the character of Kane but never felt the chemistry was on between him and AJ.

Like other readers, i thought that Kane guessing Aj's real name was hilarious, but otherwise the story seemed disconnected. I hope her other books are better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Declining series, August 22, 2004

I enjoyed the other books in this series, though strangely, it seemed to me that each successive book was a step down from the one preceeding it. Kiss & Tell remains the strongest and most enjoyable. By the time I got to Out of Sight, the decline in reading pleasure had sunk so low that I was unable to finish the story. I was completely turned off by the self-centeredness of the heroine. Her inability to see the larger picture in life and death situations endangered not only herself but others, and ultimately led to the death of another character. She seemed less troubled by this than she was with proving herself, which I found contemptible. My two stars are for the hero, who deserved a much better woman. I'll be waiting for Ms. Adair's newest entry, On Thin Ice, to be released in paperback before purchasing. I sincerely hope this series, which began with so much potential, will get back on track. The author has a lot of talent, and I'm looking forward to better things from her.

2.0 out of 5 stars So disappointed! Too much terrorism, not enough romance., September 13, 2003
By A Customer
I waited SOOOO long for this book. I'm a huge Cherry Adair fan. Like most of the other reviewers, I found this book to be very disappointing. Part of the problem was that the action part of the book (involving chasing Osama-like terrorists, doomsday machines, potential mass casualties) was just too intense. To have the main character experiencing a romance in the midst of this terror was just ridiculous. I was too freaked out by all the terror to really buy their ability to jump each other in the midst of severe danger. This formula CAN work if handled gently... for example, Suzanne Brockmann does it with her Navy SEALS. I'm really hoping that Cherry Adair scales back the terror and cranks up the romance in her next book!!!
