Abby Sight Words with Wordaliens is a new EDUCATIONAL READING APPLICATION by 22learn. The app is designed to help children learn and practice reading the most common sight words.

Sight words are words in English language that do not have a simple one-to-one correspondence between sounds and written letters, and therefore have to be learned “by sight. ”

Being able to quickly recognize sight words is a crucial part of learning how to read. Sight words mastery is a necessary step towards an enormous reading improvement.

Sight Words offers children an easy-to-use interface and a grand choice of six fun educational games, through which children can acquire mastery over this subject matter.

The 6 GAMES included are:

I loved this app! It's excellent as a tool to get your kids used to recognizing what the game refers to as sight words. It deals with words that every kid should be able to see and understand when they see it. It has a very wide range of activities to pull them in and keep them entertained and engaged while learning, which is rare. Not sure if any other reviewer has mentioned this, but I thought that it was a nice touch to have settings for multiple accounts and children. Very few of these app developers take that into account, and it's nice to be able to save progress and let someone else play. I definitely recommend this over regular index flash cards that don't hold a child's attention at ALL. Great app!

5.0 out of 5 stars This App Works! December 30, 2013

My grandson was struggling to learn how to read. Each Sunday I would see him and I could tell it was frustrating him that he was getting behind in school. I would talk with his parents and they would update me. Everyone was trying to catch him up, including his parents, but nothing was clicking for him.

I know he is an intelligent boy, so I did some homework on what prevents children from learning how to read. I found out that some kids really struggle with sight words. I research sight words a bit more and found the Sight Words Games app from 22Learn. I grabbed it for my tablet and let my grandson check it out one afternoon.

He loved it. The games were exciting and he was instantly into the app. He liked the game so much he got his parents to put it on their tablet as well. He uses the Sight Words Games app almost every night now I am told.

But, the best part about the app is that it improves young readers ability. My grandson has made more progress with his reading in the last month than he had in the six months previously. I highly recommend the Sight Words Games app to anybody who has a child struggling with reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth ever penny! June 25, 2013

Love it" This app lives up to 22learn expectations. The Graphics are great, it's smooth and responsive. I immediately noticed that it's able to keep my sons attentions for a long time ( for Christopher it really hard to do, hence, made this app worth every penny). Not to mention that the flash card and matching games are really improving my son's vocabulary and writing. I haven't had any issues with it freezing up, if it had -my son would of tossed my tablet on the floors.
Thanks for making educational apps like this one. Keep up the good work 22Learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great App For Kids Ages 3 to 6 January 22, 2014
I downloaded this app for my foster children. Education is a really big focus in my house, but we also put a lot of effort into making learning fun. I want my kids to be engaged and entertained rather than bored and forced to do work. That's one reason I love apps. Kids love playing on phones and other little devices. It's like a video game! And there's no better way for me to sit them down for a while than with a game that they enjoy- but also teaches them something.

This game is perfect. Very easy to play- children ages 3 and up could easily work it by themselves. It focuses on vocabulary skills with 6 different games. There are games for a variety of age groups starting at just 3 years of age, all the way up to 6 or 7. There are a few little 'sound' oriented games that teach kids letters. And then there are other more advanced games that focus on spelling and word recognition.

My kids love to read, but a few of them struggle with basic skills. This game helps give them much needed practice while keeping them excited about reading. It's great because I can take it to different places- waiting in doctor's offices, at sporting events, on car rides. It's a really nice way to keep them quiet. And it's so age appropriate that I never have to worry about supervising them. They can use it safely all on their own.

The app picture and sound quality is very good. Comparable to other apps of a similar price. The kids love it (and that's all that matters right?). I was really pleased with the purchase and would recommend it for people looking for a great way to keep their little ones educationally entertained. Mine only play it for 20 to 30 minutes a day- but I've definitely noticed a bit of an improvement in their reading skills.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Emergent Reader August 22, 2013

I think this is a decent game for kids who like to learn via electronics. My first grader is enjoying it and definitely picking up on lots of these sight words. She says, "I like that it's fun and easy. It gets harder and goes all the way up to third grade. I learned how to spell a new number...the number "eight".

Reading skills are important throughout life, and learning the basics is the secret to future success in reading. The basic foundation of reading lies in phonics- letter blends, sounds, the alphabet itself- and the recognition of sight words. Sight words are simply words that appear commonly in text, but they don't always follow standard phonics rules. Thus, even children who are proficient in phonics may struggle. Sight words simply need to be memorized.

It's no secret that typical 'drill and skill' exercises used to encourage memorization can be boring. The Sight Words Games app from 22Learn aims to make the process more exciting.

First of all, I work as a tutor and have been looking for an app of this kind for quite some time. Kids love technology, and these types of apps are great for the modern student. Many of my students face difficulty in reading due to poor phonics skills and inadequate sight word recognition. We need to cover the basics before moving on to higher reading levels and other skills, and apps such as this one make my lessons more exciting.

When you open the app, you can play as a guest or create your own character. Basically, there's a selection of 'file saves' to choose. The fun begins right away as the player gets to customize their very own avatar. I LOVE this! Creativity and personalization, right off the bat. Kids love to feel in control and eat this up. You can even design yourself as a scary monster! High scores are tracked between users, and kids will love the competitive element this creates whether they are challenging their previous scores or those of peers.

From there, an intuitive menu pops up. Simply tap a game to begin! I was very impressed that this app includes grade level difficulties from pre-k-grade 3.
