Abby Sight Words with Wordaliens is a new EDUCATIONAL READING APPLICATION by 22learn. The app is designed to help children learn and practice reading the most common sight words.

Sight words are words in English language that do not have a simple one-to-one correspondence between sounds and written letters, and therefore have to be learned “by sight. ”

Being able to quickly recognize sight words is a crucial part of learning how to read. Sight words mastery is a necessary step towards an enormous reading improvement.

Sight Words offers children an easy-to-use interface and a grand choice of six fun educational games, through which children can acquire mastery over this subject matter.

The 6 GAMES included are:

Control the Word Machine. Supply all the words that need to be produced by tapping on the words called.

Tap on one of the speakers on the screen, hear the word pronounced, and place the word across the speaker. Repeat for all words to see wonderful gears animation.

➌ SPELLING (full version only)
Your dog is hungry! Make cans to feed him! To make a can, drag the letter cards to their correct place and make a word you have just heard pronounced.

➍ BINGO (full version only)
Make a Bingo to get a ticket for Aliens back home! Tap on the word corresponding to the one that you heard pronounced. Once you have matched cards from one side of the board to the next... Bingo! Aliens are back home!

➎ MEMORY GAME (full version only)
Match the sounds to correct word forms! To do so, tap on one of the speakers, hear the word, and then select one of the cards below with a correct word. Do it for all words!

➏ FLASH CARDS (full version only)
Practice in the Flash Card mode. List through the words and top on the cards to hear the words pronounced again and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of Fun Options November 8, 2013

This is the trial version. We went ahead and got the full version to unlock all of the words and games. Great app for interactive learning.I appreciate the high-quality sound, both in good voice work saying the words, and in the ability to turn music off if quiet play is needed. We found the best way to use this app is to first play in flash card mode together, then play BINGO to get the words down, as BINGO is a familiar game concept to my son, then explore the other games. This version only has the words and gears games, but those are a lot of fun too, especially the Word Machine game. The details in this app make it so appealing. You pick your avatar, so a parent can be an alien and that's lots of fun. Their are rewards but no punishments that get discouraging, and the payoffs are fun (your dog gets to eat, etc.) My son is behind for his age so we'll be working on this one often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational? - YES. Fun for children? - YES April 10, 2013
My 3 year old niece loves playing with these sight words. This is so simple a 3 year old can use it....and boy does she use it! She is in love with this and so am I. When I have to babysit it makes it so much easier that we have an activity we can do together that is not only fun, but engages her to learn. She loves playing around and has drained my kindle battery playing this!

Educational for young children - yes.

Fun for children - Yes

Warning - You will have your kids playing and learning for HOURS! Highly recommended!

The perfect blend of education and entertainment; my son loves it and I have noticed that he's already picked up some new words after using it. The interface and functionality is perfect for kids and I am sure I will be getting the full version very soon. I couldn't possibly be any more satisfied with the app and I will definitely be recommending it to other parents

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... March 29, 2013

I thought i would test this out before paying for the real thing. Here is the deal. The app comes with pre-k words and two of the six games unlocked. To start you get to create a profile, this is cute but it also says player 1 (or whichever number) and you have the ability to change the name. The name part is never remembered and always goes back to the default #. Ok, this is not a deal breaker. When playing the games it speaks a word for you to find. It does this kind of fast and can be hard for the kids to understand. It would be helpful to enunciate short words and maybe use in a sentence. Also the game froze two times and one time the score was stuck on top of the screen covering every thing that we did. I had to reboot the fire to get this to go away. I did however like that you can choose the words used, very good for my pre-k child. In the settings you can see that it even includes up to third grade words, however, all of these words are in my second graders school required vocab. I am not sure if I'll upgrade or not, will have to keep playing with it and see if they can get the bugs worked out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for my Soon to Be Kindergartner May 5, 2013

My daughter, who will be going into Kindergarten in the fall has been using this to practice her sight words. The games are fun, engaging, and simple enough that she can play on her own. Great way to review these words in a way that is different from your standard flash card games!

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps Determine How Ready They Are To Read November 27, 2013
Verified Purchase
I decided to try this game because my kids were forgetting how to pronounce their sight words. In their school, they are at a level of having so many words and flash cards. Their teacher teaches them in the way I used to learn in back in the 70’s. The method is more by route and not entertaining. Now we are in the times of the baby learning channels, abcmouse, etc. Many of these learning tools can be very expensive and hard to navigate. This program is very creative. My kids can easily follow the directions. I have twins (boy and girl). They enjoy how both female and male voices sound during the games. My daughter mimics the female voice and my son responds by impersonating the make voice. It’s funny because I can stand there repeating words until I am blue in the face and they do grasp the pronunciation (maybe my Midwestern twang gets in the way). When they hear the voices in the game they say the words perfectly. The games are eye catching and keep their attention. You can definitely see how ready your kids are to read by letting them play this game. It is also a fun way to improve speaking and pronunciation skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!! September 11, 2013

Very creative game. Directions are easy to follow and I like how they use both female and male voices during the games. The games are colorful and engaging. I like how interactive this game is, that helps to keep children engaged in learning. This is a great app for teaching children who are learning to read. I work with children with autism and ADHD and they love to sit and play this app. The games have even helped with speech, which is fantastic. I would recommend to any parent or professional with children.
