I also have the red dot by Sightmark and so far they have held up fine.

I recommend this item to any one interested in purchasing a magnifying optic and can't afford the Acog.
Dywayne Harris
Loosening the mount to allow the slide to activate makes the mount too loose to operate.

I purchased this magnifier because of the 7x magnification as I wanted something a little stronger than the usual 3x. The sight itself was of reasonable quality. Not a tank, but it wasn't going to fall apart under normal use either. Optically it was adequate. Clear and sharp enough to do the job but it isn't going to impress anyone. My biggest issue is with the form factor and the slide to side mount. The form factor makes it impossible to mount this optic in line with an Eotech XPS2 and still mount BUIS. Since this was a requirement for me that killed the deal right there. If you do not need back up irons then this may well be a decent solution for you.

However, the slide mount is completely useless. It is hard to actuate, sloppy when locked down, and very poorly designed and built. When I say hard to actuate I don't mean that it's stiff. I would have expected that, after all you don't want your magnifier to move between shots, either on or off. But this was actually felt broken. Very gritty and unclear about when it was in position to slide. Very ambiguous when it locked, which leads to my second point, it just slopped around when in position. I mean by about an 1/8" in all directions. It felt like it needed to be screwed done or something, but there was nothing to adjust. Which brings up my final issue. This mount is just badly designed. It happens to be badly built as well, but the design is the bigger issue. It will never lock up tight because of the way the parts interact. Th epoor build quality of the mount, of course, just makes this worse. The mount literally fell apart on me. A screw fell out and spring flew across the room. This while I was sliding it as its intended use. Overall, epic fail.

Final thoughts.

I have had Sightmark optics and had fairly good experiences with them. This product, however, makes me want to tell them to take their name off of it and put "NC Star" or something on it instead. It all has to do with the mount! Here's why: First of all, it has a flimsy lock-in/release function. I suspect that after a few dozen times of sliding/rotating up or down, it would not hold it in place. Next, and most importantly, when it is "locked in" in the up/shooting position, it does NOT hold it in place steadily whatsoever!!!! It wobbles back and forth and you will NEVER keep your red dot in the center of it, ever! I feel like the magnifier is good quality and I was able to see very clearly with it and seems tough and sturdy. But the mounting system is AWFUL. I cannot stress that enough! DO NOT BUY the magnifier with this mounting system!!! I would highly recommend buying the magnifier separately and then finding a different slide-to-side mount to install it in! I ended up just putting a scope on my AR-15 :(

I have this on my PSA AR-15 upper and lower. I also have the red dot by Sightmark and so far they have held up fine. The sight looks clean and the flip to side is "ok". You have to oil down the slider but other than that I would buy again. Its not an EOTECH or ACOG but I dont plan on being dropped in a war zone anytime.

The magnifier jostles around in the mount slightly when 'locked' into normal position. That's even with the adjustment screws tightened down so far that you can not slide the magnifier to the side. In addition to this the adjustment screws to the magnifier windage and elevation feel like they're free floating inside the rubber end and the slightest touch makes the magnified image bounce. Overall a little disappointed.

Its doing good on my Rock River Ar-15 with my Eotech. I am happy, not bad for the price but i just wish it would of had an adjustable eye piece for different yardage. Other then that good product.

If you have a high end optic do not waste your money and put this behind it. You will not be able to keep backup sights on the rial with this and a holo sight on it. The seven power is nice but the package is too big. It might match nicely with other Sightmark products.

There are scratches on it, I think it has been used before. It is bulky, poorly made, and never worth the price. Do not buy it, you will regret.
