5.0 out of 5 stars Shoot to Thrill
This Firefield 7.62x39MM bore sight gets the job done right. Let's start with the outside- the color. The bright red color makes it easy to locate- whether it's in a bag or a rifle case. The gold colored battery cap screws on/off with ease. As mentioned in the description, it comes with 2 batteries to get you sighted right out of the box. There is no on/off switch, so...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!
They claim the laser has a 2 inch dot and is visible at 100 yards. Not at all. Could not see the laser at 5 yards even after putting in new batteries. This product is not worth the time or the aggravation when you have to box it up and send it back. No complaints about Amazon, just the product. Amazon handled everthing with a 5 star rating as has always been my experience...

4.0 out of 5 stars Save Yourself Time & Ammo, February 12, 2010

FIREFIELD AK47/SKS 7.62X39MM CHAMBER BORE SIGHT - A purchase worth the money. Arrived in time for deer season, and helped zero my nephew's SKS in less than ten minutes just firing three rounds. (Nephew didn't get a deer this year, but that's because he is a noisy stalker, and not because his rifle's scope is off.)

Be gentle with the unit. Try not to let it fall onto the floor after being extracted. My pal that recommended me getting one, busted his after it hit hard enough to bounce on concrete. It never worked again. I keep both my 7.62x39mm bore sight, and my .308 bore sight, in a hard, plastic lure case. Always store it WITHOUT the batteries in it. Safe & happy shootin' to you, I hope this helps ya'll out.

The gold colored battery cap screws on/off with ease. As mentioned in the description, it comes with 2 batteries to get you sighted right out of the box. There is no on/off switch, so slide this puppy in the chamber and aim. It is really simple using the iron sights on a stock AK-47. (I live inside the city, so I used the Firefield to sight my rifle while indoors. I took it out to shoot 2 weeks later, and it was zeroed in on everything we shot.)

Just pull back the bolt carrier and aim the rifle upwards and the bore sight will slide out. Be ready to catch it! lol.

As ammo prices have increased lately, I felt this was a good investment for future use. If you shoot frequently, this could save you lots of time and money getting your rifle zeroed in correctly.

3.0 out of 5 stars not easy to see at distance, July 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I can't claim complete satisfaction. This boresighter works moderately well at 25 yards, but the spot is too large and too dim at 50 yards and beyond. Still, it's good for getting you on paper at short range. Once you've got the crosshairs on the laser dot at that distance, you'll need to fire a few rounds at a target to get it perfect. Then keep moving further and further from your target, until you're sighted in at 100 yards.

Far from perfect, but it gets things done quickly and easily at first. If you're going to sight in a couple of .243s (or whatever), it'll be a cheaper way of getting on paper than firing rounds. Even with a single scope, it's easy and reliable.

Another minor complete: in my Weatherby .243, the bolt wouldn't quite close with this in the chamber. I assume that's because it's designed to fit several different size cartridges. (And a final complaint: the packaging was terrible.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes things a heck of allot easier.., February 4, 2010
I was having major issues sighting my AK47 in, depleting allot of my ammo with trying to do it. I bought this product and it made sighting my laser, and Red-Dot a easy task. It took less than 5 minutes, the directions where very easy to understand, I highly recommend this product for anyone. worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, November 8, 2011

This did exactly what I needed. I used it to set the sights on my WASR10 which were way off. I bought two packets of extra batteries because of other reviews. But I haven't even drained the set that came with the unit yet and both my brother and I have used it multiple times. I used it to set my iron sights and a red dot and it worked perfectly. It is very hard to see it during mid day sun (especially in the desert where I shoot), so for best results use it in lower light. YMMV

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Acceptable, August 9, 2011
I sprang for this to save money on 7.62x39 ammo when sighting in my new Polish AKMS. Canted sights are common and ammo is expensive so I figured this was a solid concept worth a try.

Prior to firing a round at the range, I ordered and received this bore sighter. It indicated that the sights were waaaay off. In order to zero to the laser dot, the front sight had to be lowered as far as it could go and the windage drum had to be shifted until it protruded about 3mm on the left of the front sight post and was indented by as much on the right.

Firing for the first time at the range after these adjustments was a shock. After about 20 rounds and numerous corrections, the front sight wound up about where it had been right out of the box.

With what I spent on this sighter, and the ammo I had to use to correct its bogus alignmnent....I could have bought more ammo.

Don't waste your time, money, and ammo with this sighter.

1.0 out of 5 stars fairfield bore sight=pos, April 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I absolutely hate this pos. Complete waste of $. Doesn't work. I can sight my ak in much better with out it. Also if you know ak47's then you know the bolt carrier will slam shut with just a minor jostle or bump. That being said, if this happens good luck getting the damn thing out. I had to use alot of force to pull my bolt carrier back and with all that force when it broke loose the Damn laser flew across the room. Put it in the trash after that. DO NOT BUY.

5.0 out of 5 stars very satisfied with results, August 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After buying a red dot for my AK-103 (Saiga conversion), I bought this item to help me sight it in. Afterward, I was hitting targets as small as apples out to 100 yards with ease. You can't see it that well in the day time, so I used it in my basement to sight it in for about 25 yards and just made elevation adjustments afterward. Since you can't see it well during the day, I suggest using it at night, indoors, or at a close enough range where you can see it and just adjust for elevation later.

One thing I did notice that didn't pose a problem but seemed odd was that when I loaded it, the action did not close all the way. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but it was still accurate, and it didn't get stuck in the barrel.

5 stars for including batteries.
